Have been to Saigon and Hanoi and Anne's food is wonderful. We have been going for a couple of years now and you feel like one of the family. A real family restaurant which you tell people about.
This is one of my favourite place for excellent Vietnamese food, I have to agree with the previous comment that the service is excellent. We have for entree was fresh rice paper prawn and Vietnamese Pancake was the best in town. The main was saigon duck with chilli jam is to die for. Beef with coconut cream & crush peanut was the best.
As soon as we came in we were greeted and shown a table and given drinks. The service was excellent even though it was quite busy on a Friday night. They came at the right time and helped us choose our meals. The spring rolls (entree) were very fresh and the thai bbq chicken was bursting with flavour. Also, the serving size was huge! The coconut juice which is available in a coconut was delicious along with the coconut fleshy white stuff. The restaurant was nice with many paintings but it didn't seem to fit together. All in all, a great restaurant. Would visit again.
Wait staff are not that friendly, unless you are Asian. I think it's because of their English skills, not because they are rude. But I find when going to Asian restaurants, the worse their English is, the better the food is haha. If you go here, the 'Vietnamese duck curry' is a must!!!!!
This is one of our favourite local cheap eats that have never disappointed us. So much so that we have become friends with the owners, William and Anne and their son Wilson. Hence, my review may be a bit biased here. Although I do agree from a previous comment that children should not be servicing patrons, we have never seen Wilson do this at all.
For entrees, we always have the springs rolls and if we feel rich that day, quail would be on the order. Although the spring rolls are a little small, it's incredibly tasty and the carrots compliment it nicely. The quail is one of my favourite dish there. The cripsy skin and juicy full flavoured meat is to die for. And combined with a bed of lettuce tossed with tomato, fried shallots and garlic, it's yummy!
Mains we have tried almost everything on the menu. Highlights are the bbq chicken, beef in pepper sauce and salt n pepper squid. The hot and sour fish soup is divine as well, especially in the cold winter nights. Another mention is the special beef noodle soup as well. And if there's room left in our stomachs, we would have the fried ice cream, even though it's not really a Vietnamese dessert.
The service is equally good. As soon as you sit down, they would serve chinese tea. There's nothing I can comment on negatively. Value wise, it's beneficial to go as a group so you can choose one of the set menus. Price is unbeatable there. But still great value if you choose from the general menu.
We went there last week but we found the food was not as good as it states here. We ordered beef noodle soup but we found that the beef was not fresh, we also found cockcoach on the wall...horrible experience!
They also have a few waitresses however they were busy in talking and we needed to wait for 15 minutes to be served!
I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
Went here last night with friends, our first visit but certainly won't be our last. The food is fresh and delicious with a variety of vegetarian dishes to suit my wife's culinary preferences. The Vietnamese duck with chilli jam is to die for, simply delicious. We shared 2 entrees and 5 main courses, took our own wine (BYO) and all up $90 including corkage, great value at around $22.50 per person AND we had enough left over for a 'doggie bag'.
Ambience is the only thing that lets it down a little, however, the friendly and prompt service more than makes up for that. Well worth a visit.
What a great place! Went on a saturday night. It wasn't our first preference but we're so glad we went. I usually have to drive a fair way to get good vietnamese, flemington, marrickville and parramatta but am stoked to have found delicious authentic food closer to home. I'll be back!
I eat here very often with my family. The food is great and the price is not very expensive, the service is very good with nice friendly waitresses also.
I talk to the owners whenever I come into eat and they're very nice and welcoming people so as for karen 32203's review, their son is actually 4 yrs old NOT 8-10 yrs. And you are right he does not know any better after all he is ONLY 4 yrs old so before you go and write a review on someones restaurant make sure your facts are right and don't go overboard with the exaggeration.
