I'd seen this place many times as I drove past and resolved to visit one day, it's not in the main cluster of restaurants further up so you need to know where to stop or you'll miss it. Do try the spring rolls, after the paltry serving sizes you see around Sydney, 8 spring rolls on a plate is guaranteed to impress even if they're not the most flavoursome spring rolls you've ever had.
We ordered the crispy chicken (yes, definitely try some - light and crispy and not greasy/oily) and fried rice, and again it's a lovely serving. Also had the beef noodle soup (pho) which was Ok. It tasted a bit bland to me, could have used more star anise.
Overall I'd say the one in fivedock is better but it was a perfectly pleasant meal.

They have just changed their menu. Higher prices, but more variety. I had their Beef Rice-Noodle Soup, it was above average. The Crispy Skin Chicken and Tomato Rice was good, and their Won Ton soup was beautiful.
Don't forget to try their Vietnamese Iced Coffee, although they probably don't use real Vietnamese (Trung Nguyen) coffee, it is good enough.

Me and my girlfriend eat here all the time, the food is awesome we both love the crispy skin chicken its the best we have ever tried. The food is always freash and tasty service is good and bang for buck is great. The restaurant itself is a little small and has simple decor, over all a great feed a must if you like asian food.

I really wanted to like this place because it's local, however it has disappointed us twice now. The first time we ordered, the beef steak in pepper sauce was terrible but the rest of our order was good, so we wanted to try again. This time the food was average again (some good, some not) - and the difference in the spring rolls (ordered both times) was frustrating since I was expecting them to be good, since I'd had them before. Takeaway service is fine, and the value is what you'd expected for the style of dish you're getting.

Good little take away joint. Decent pho and vietnamese basics. Light and fresh. The service is pretty miserable but as I only use it for take away I don't mind as it's fast and good value.

Without doubt the best value for money restaurant in Sydney, in fact in many ways our favourite restaurant in Sydney. You can spend on average around $40 tops for a family and eat a feast. The soups are a must, if ever I have a tummy upset I go there for soup, it feels like it has medicinal qualities and usually fixes me up.
The vermicelli salad is so moreish we lick the plate almost and their crispy skin chicken with rice is simply yummy. Both these dishes are around $12! We go at least once a fortnight, the owner and her family are so friendly and welcoming and the staff very helpful. Its a delight, one drawback = cash only but hey we don't normally spend more than $40 so not too much of a problem.

I had a Vietnamese beef noodle (Pho Bo) and it was average. Good for the Inner West as there isn't much competition. Not much ambience cause it's just a quick eat in or takeaway place. Service wasn't with a smile and for what you get isn't exactly on the cheap side. I'll go back cause it's local for me. Will try other food next time to see if it's better.

Restaurant is basically a takeaway with a few tables. Overall the food we had was fresh, tasty and great value. However, there is one exception: I do not recommend the Vietnamese Prawn Rolls which consisted mostly of rice vermicelli and very little prawn.
Service was non existent really and we had to leave our table in order to request water, soft drinks and at the conclusion of our meal, the bill. Further it would help if the waitress could manage a smile or at the very least be pleasant. Saigon Express is better suited to those seeking a good value takeaway, people seeking to have a nice night out should look elsewhere.

Being Viet and living down the road from this place, I decided to try it out. I'd have to say the food here is mediocre and a bit westernised so not authentic. There are much better Viet restaurants a couple of minutes drive down. Would not go back.

It's very simple ... don't come here for the ambience or the service as there is none. However, if you like authentic Viet food and don't mind having it take away then go for your life. The food is very good and the price is great. Some mains under $10. A great place to stop on the way home if you don't feel like cooking. Find somewhere else for Valentine's day though.
