Saigon Bay Vietnamese Restaurant had located at 249 Oxford Street Darlinghurst since 1993. Darlinghurst is known as the heart of Sydney’s gay scene and the home of the Mardi Gras, this area is best known for its clubs, pubs & restaurants, one of the best place for most people hang out with their friends after work.
Saigon Bay offers authentic Vietnamese Cuisine in the warm friendly atmosphere, the restaurant had operated since 1993 and serves foods to a lot of happy returning customers. Vietnamese food has long been appreciated in France, the former colonial power, U.S. residents are only beginning to discover its many fine features.
Our Vietnamese chefs like to refer to our cooking as "the novella cuisine of Asia." And indeed, with the heavy reliance on rice, wheat and legumes, abundance of fresh herbs and vegetables, minimal use of oil, and treatment of meat as a condiment rather than a main course, Vietnamese food has to be among the healthiest on the planet.

I am someone who truly enjoys my Vietnamese cuisine! I've never dined at this place and recently used a Cudo voucher here with my friend for our fortnightly catch up.
When it comes to Vietnamese restuarants in Sydney it can be a little hit and miss with some dodgy places - but Saigon Bay was a treat! They had a big menu to choose from and the food was devine! Very yummy! Will definitely come here again and bring the family!

Sorry we went last night and was not impressed with the food. It was just horrible. We had 3 entrees, 2 mains and this food is not vietnamese. Everything was tasteless or too sweet.

Service was very slow. 1/2 an hour between entree and main. Understaffed. Extremely noisy. And they charge $6.80 for a doggy bag! go figure!

Very disappointing. I ordered a takeaway on a lazy Sunday and won't bother frequenting. One item of the order was missing, which to be fair they did deliver very promptly. Started with chicken and corn soup which was weirdly sweet.
The "crispy" filled pancake was such a let down. No seasoning, raw in the middle and was greasy to the point that i had to change plates after it was binned. SnP Calamari was cooked fine although heavy on the batter. Sweet and sour pork dish was again very sweet.
For the price I'd expect a lot more, it is very overpriced. There is another Vietnamese restaurant in Kings Cross that is much better value and miles better food.

We had a voucher for this restaurant and didn't have high expectations but the food was amazing! We had a set menu and the campfire's beef was heavenly. Had never had anything like it and it tasted amazing! Would def go back just for that! Worth a visit!

I was quite disappointed with this restaurant. I was looking forward to a nice meal at a restaurant who understood gluten free food and cooking, as this restaurant is listed in the 'gluten free' section here.
Upon arrival I was told by the waiter that they had no gluten free food, once I was visibily upset the head hostess came over to us and explained that the waiter did not know, and that nearly everything was gluten free. I found this quite difficult to believe, and upon questioning her some more it was quite clear she did not understand what gluten was and what it was in. She ended up offering me a sugar and water sauce to accompany my food. Strangely ok.
But would not go back there nor recommend it to anyone whom is coeliac or has gluten intolerance.

The food wasn't too bad, but the cook must love his pepper, there was literally pepper in everything even the sweet corn chicken soup which my 3 year old couldn't eat and I have told the wait staff that the soup is for our child. The stuffed chicken wing was dry and all I could taste was the pepper. Pepper overkill, won't be going back. Definitely not child friendly.

We stumbled upon this place in Oxford St and thought we'd give it a shot. Wow, from the start of service to each meal being served and individually, we were impressed. The food was excellent. Must try their Pumpkin Duck Curry, amazing!
All round good value and experience. We'll be back. PS. the Pancake was great too..!

There were some OK dishes and the service was good overall. Some of the meat dishes were really oily and heavy. More reminiscent of Chinese than Vietnamese. The food used to be average but cheap here. I don't think it has got better in some respects and it isn't authentic Vietnamese. However the prices have risen dramatically and not in line with their offering. They have tarted the place up but the new paint and a few pics doesn't warrant the new menu prices. There are better places within 5-10 minutes walk.

I had a banquet dinner there but very unsatisfied with the quality of the food. Most of the dishes are oily and the free saigo dessert was a bit burnt which you can smell it. I don't understand how other people can give such a high rating on the food. May be they have a different chef for banquet.
