We went here for dinner a couple of months ago and could not stop saying Yum the whole meal. We had a set menu and the food was just beautiful, so flavoursome and fresh. Our waiter was very friendly and we had fast service. Wish I had a bigger stomach so we could have eaten more! Would definitely recommend.

    Dear Sahra,

I wanted to thank you on behalf of our family for an absolutely memorable occasion on Saturday 15 January. My brother-in-law Shaun van der Donk celebrated his wedding with Rania on Saturday night. I wanted to thank you, your staff were fantastic, the venue and food was fabulous. Please let your staff know that we appreciate their service, I didn't get to thank them personally. On behalf of us all, thanks for a wonderful and memorable evening.

    Warmest regards,
    Rebecca

There are only few good things you can say about this place, (they sometimes serve good food and do have nice ambience) but good service is not one of them! The senior staff's attitude is beyond belief. I'm not sure how he can keep his job. He has a bad attitude, is mocking, rude and arrogant. He has communication issues and clearly does not care for repeat business.

He repeatedly talks to his customers about dollar values and how much revenue he expects to make on each night (I quote "what you want another table to seat your guests? Why, are going to pay me $6000 tonight for your function, why should I give you more seats when you booked for 55-56 people, I gave you 54 seats and now you want 56? Do you realise this will take a small table away from my other guests who may walk in without a booking")....I never realised that bringing an extra guest was such a bad thing/inconvenient issue for a restaurant.

It wasn't like he wasn't going to charge us for exact the number that came. And we booked for the right number anyway, it wasn't my fault he didn't set up his table layout correctly! As it was, more than half my guests complained at how closely seated and squashed up they were and when we asked him if its possible to space out a bit as we can't fit or move around he became so rude.

Initially, on attending during a week night, to check out the place to see if it would be worth booking a large function, the service was non existent, while there was only one other table in the place. This should have set off alarm bells, but whilst the food was nice on that night, I can not say the same taste or quality was presented when I held my larger group function. This is disappointing! They charge more per head during functions but the quality is not the same and they conveniently "forgot" a few dishes which are included on the banquet menu.
    Thats not value.

They also claim to offer unlimited soft drink as part of this banquet. When we asked for lemonade, the senior staff's attitude was "I already have enough jugs of coke out there for you" (there was only a few jugs of coke and a few jugs of water, now how is this unlimited soft drink, when you won't even bring out another variety?) Such a cheap and bad attitude. We were not asking for any favours from the staff, just what was promised and simply another variety for guests who don't drink coke! 'Id assumed at least a few varieties of soft drink would be available, not that I would have to beg to get one flavour to come out!

Many promises were made when we originally booked and not met. They even tried to say we hadn't paid a deposit booking and were going to charge us for this amount again, only when we produced our deposit receipt they finally acknowledged it, but without a single apology!

Overall, I recommend that you stay away from having a function or any large group attend this restaurant, they left so many of my guests disappointed and shocked by the rude attitude and poor service. Also requests for songs to be played by the dj were responded by : "If we feel like it, its not up to you" (I could keep writing about all the other things they did which were wrong, but there isn't enough room in this review).

They cannot properly organise anything or communicate with their customers. They act like they really do not care of you come back or not. They may be busy, but repeat business is not why.

I wish I had known this before I booked an important occasion at Sahra. I am so upset that the senior staff thinks he can treat people with this bad attitude. It completely ruined my special occasion and I can't help but want to warn other people against my bad experience.

A group of us went to the Sahara Restaurant at Brighten-Le-Sands and we had a set up meal and I must say the food was good but only bad thing was that the music was deafeningly loud, any way if you want my opinion of good restaurants is that they shouldn't play any kind of music. We are there to eat and chat.

Actually Lil Neecy and I are over these large function style lebanese restaurants, give us a small intimate lebanese eatery around Redfern any day. The Kebabs (lamb and chicken) we ordered as mains were dry and not very tasty and served over a bed of french fries with tabouli and half roasted tomato's on the side. Our plates were heaped but not very interesting. Must say, that we only came here because the place was reserved by others in our group. Outlook over the Bay is good.

Sahra was a surprise for me and my guests of 12 who work for my company. I was recommended by a Lebanese friend who told me I will have a fantastic experience. It really was a fantastic experience we had banquet b. It was scintillating and all my guest were very full. The food tasted so fresh, like what my mum makes. The service was always there sometimes too much. And for $45 it was great value.

This restaurant has so much potential but is very badly let down by its staff and service. We dined here on a weeknight. There were very few patrons and yet the staff was still nowhere to be seen. Nobody was interested in taking drinks orders. When the mezza was finally served, it was served without bread. An hour into our meal we requested a shisha and were warned that we would have to enjoy it quickly because the restaurant was closing in half an hour.

The calamari was not grilled but the cheap fried packet stuff. The dessert was nothing as described in our set menu. Instead, it consisted of individually plastic-wrapped pieces of sweet which every Arabic corner shop sells. Disgraceful. To top it off, we saw two huge cockraches during the evening. Despite some tasty dishes (baba ghannouj and grilled meats) we will never ever come back to this joke of a restaurant again.

The owners of this place seriously need to re-train their staff in basic hospitality and service. And spend some money on pest control. And get rid of the cheap packaged dessert.

We've been here 1 and 1/2 times. The 1/2 time was when we booked the restaurant for a function and paid a $500 deposit only to be notified a few days later that senior management had already booked the place for that day, and we'd be unable to have our function there, their alternative was for us to use the function room next door which resembled a storeroom that you had to enter through a neighbouring cafe.

Great! The next time we went wasn't by choice as we were attending a function there, all we can say is we're glad we didn't have a function there because their rudeness and incompetence is still miles better than the service we experienced, waiters that would casually stroll through the place too cool to attend to the tables. How this place is still in business is definitely a mystery!

Service here is terrible! We were ignored, despite the fact that the restaurant was near empty! Staff couldn't care less about the patrons. I asked for a glass of coke and it took him half an hour! Food is average. I've had better. Too pricey.
