Great value and matching portion sizes. It is spacious and clean. Good variety and the train, Glad I was introduced to this sushi train.

I accidentally discovered Sagunja in Mandarin Centre. I wanted a quick meal before the movie and decided to try Sagunja. Once of the good looking place in the shabby looking food court of Mandarin Centre. It's $2.90 per plate. There were only 3 moderately sliced salmon on the plate. Sushi was normal size as you'd get from anywhere. I didn't have much time to wait for dishes to come by through the train so I got the menu and ordered from there. I enjoyed the lightly seared scallops sushi and the tropical sushi was a delight. Tropical sushi is a bit different and a nice change. It came with inari aged fried beancurd wrap with some rice top with avocado and choice of grilled eel or scallops. It was delicious! The fried springs rolls were baby size! :) Nonetheless, I prefer sushi here than in Mokoto. Service was not too bad. They didn't top up my green tea and I had to ask for service. I didn't mind that. I had a good feed and didn't cost too much.

Agree with Little Dodd, the small serving plates balance out the $2.90 rate which results in a bill similar to what you'd spend in a nicer place like Makoto. Still, nice enough set up and interiors, efficient staff, and a wide variety of dishes. One thing to mention is that because there are so many dishes on the carousel and the slow speed of fresh plates being made, all three fried plates we had were cold. They don't encourage you to order fresh plates but know that they do have menus behind the desk so next time, I'd order the fried plates instead of taking them off the train.

Sagunja also have a teppanyaki bar a few shops further along in the food court. I often go here for lunch and get the Chicken Yaki-udon (stirfry noodle/veg dish) served on a hot stone plate - with free miso soup. This is delicious, my favourite lunch in Chatswood for under $8.

Love this place, would have paid $6.20 a plate for similar plate at other place. Been coming here many times and will come back for sure.

Sagunja's per plate cost may be low, but the servings are so small you end up eating a lot more plates so it works out the same price as say Makoto. Makoto has far better quality food in terms of sushi train style restaurant.

Sagunja's sushi is not for real sushi lovers. $2.50 per plate may be cheap to some, but the quality and variety of the sushi was compromised to fit that price. Keep in mind rave reviews here may be influenced by cheapness. Not authentic (japanese cuisine run by koreans, who now operate 2 other korean food stalls in the food court outside) and disappointing for me personally. I racked up a couple plates of mediocre to so-so sushi, which added up to about $10-$15 which could have been better spent in toraya (genuine japanese) just across the foodcourt.

My partner and I were going to the movies and needed to grab a bite to eat before hand. I looked up Eatability before hand to see where to go for a bite in Chatswood.

This place is great. At $2.70 a plate I could choose sushi with octopus, prawns, salmon, california rolls and of course sashimi! I got so excited when I first sat down I had a stack of empty plates in front of me before you could blink! The octopus is my favourite!

We came in on a Saturday night at 7:30 pm and got a seat within minutes. This place is quite popular, so make sure you come in a bit earlier! They also had a variety of hot dishes on the menu, but with sushi so fresh I didn't even bother!. There is a very large turnover of meals, and it is great that the chefs prepare the food right in front of you.

Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area. Great to go before a movie.

Great food, lots of variety when its busy. Been there more than 8 times since the start of the year. At 2.70 a plate, it is one of the cheapest sushi train places in Sydney. And its great to see the dishes made right in front of you.

This is a surprisingly good moving sushi bar. And a $2.90 any plater for lunch it is fun. My kids demand sushi everyday. I often yield as I love it too. <$30 for me and my youngest son to stuff our selves. Not bad.
