Food is generally good and menu options are ok. Dining area is quite separate from main bar but recently introduced trivia has destroyed the ambience in the dining area. The 'outdoor' smoking section seems to be creeping into the bar area and also makes for a less than pleasant dining experience. Bar staff are inconsistent, so you might find service wanting or something on the menu you want and the staff on the day decide that's for lunch only - no soup for you! Food, drinks are good in quality and value. Looking forward to the arrival of the 'it'll be here next week' coffee machine.

I had the veal schnitzel. Could have been more tender. Came with a nice salad though. My partner had the chicken pot pie. Crust and mash were ok as was the sauce. The chicken pieces in the pie were a bit tasteless and slightly dodgy looking. I tried to order some garlic bread as I usually do. Not available. Got 3 small slices of white bread instead for $4. Disappointing. A tip for all restaurants: offer garlic bread! (not garlic 'pizzas').

Good range of beer on tap, good selection of food. Can get a bit busy so you might have to wait a bit for the food but the staff are friendly and helpful. The big negative here is the smokers. The smoking area is right beside the restaurant and both times I ate there the smoke was quite noticeable while eating - yuk. Won't be going back.

The Sackville has really stepped up in style since they did the renovations. The food has been delicious with their new menu. Great place to be able to chat and eat with lots of good vibes going on around you.

Good value for nice food. Don't listen to the naysayers. The food is not expensive at all, especially for what it is - quality bistro food. Averages 20-25 a main with larger servings than you'd think.

It's bar service but the food is quick from the kitchen. Go check it out. The Pork Belly is tasty (if a little trendy these days) and the coq au vin is pretty decent. Fussy types mourning the old food should have tried the fish and chips, which were great too. Nice food, Nice prices. I'll be going back

We have been eating in balmain and rozelle for many years, and the sackville has been always one of the best eating pubs in this area for us, but like with so many pubs this days they want to serve trendy food. But why, it is a pub, leave us a few traditional hotels with great pub food. We used to enjoy the home made lamb shank pie here, gone, but why. Very disappointed.

I haven't been to the Sackville for quite a while. But after receiving a flyer in the mail about a new chef and menu, I decided to go check it out with a few friends.
What was meant to be a quick and early dinner turned into a long fun night at The Sackville. Everyone enjoyed the food, and we all ordered different things so had a good variety to sample. We were all very happy with our meals and had a fun night there. Will definitely be back for more.

We (5 - 7 people depending upon who is free) have been eating at the Sackville every Tuesday night for some time and despite the noise from the trivia night in the main bar we have always enjoyed.

Food was great (9) and good value (9). Service was ok(6), but that didn't really matter, we weren't looking for people to fall over us with attention. Last Tuesday 3/6/08 night the bistro was closed due to changeover to new owners. We went across the road to the Fish Bowl. On Wednesday night, at a loose end, we decided to check out the new bistro.

Oh well, good things aren't meant to last. Menu has changed, not for the better. Gone are the classics lamb shank pie - fabulous, best wedges ever found, eye fillet, kangaroo etc and the light meals. They are smaller serves and higher prices and narrower selection. Its a pub bistro, not a restaurant, smaller serves, higher prices and lack of menu choice won't make it a restaurant.

The Ambience is unchanged (which is ok), although no Trivia night on Wednesday was a plus. It looks like its back to Fish Bowl or another pub. We are not amused.
