Been there a number of times both with family and with partner. It can get busy so always book. Pizza's are great but the steak is value for money as well. BYO so take your own. I'm going to order a pizza now.
Have eaten at both Russo restaurants, this one is far better. Have had good service and bad service here, which makes it a toss up whether to come back or not! Food is fantastic but service can be slow.
My first time there tonight, loved the pizzas. Best I have had since going to Oatley Pub and that was a while ago. Can't expect much ambience wise when sitting in the outdoor area alongside Forest Road, but does not bother me. Not noisy where we were sitting. Staff was friendly and prompt. Fed four people for $50 so not an expensive place. 9/10 for the pizzas.
Russo's was a regular haunt of ours but the noise drove us away. A great local restaurant but the food can be inconsistent so do not expect cuisine. Large helpings do not replace quality and the restaurant needs to be more concerned with going back to the old fashioned Italian style that attracted everyone in the area originally. This place is loosing 'it' and needs to get back to basics. Mind you the pizzas are the best of any I have ever tasted.
I have never eaten pizza before and I had my first pizza here, and it was absolutley FANTASTIC, we are now regulars here, the food is great the prices are great and the people are even better, and good value place for all the family, or a quiet meal for two.
Great Pizzas, though after 6 visits, one was burnt underneath. Generous helpings. Bustling restaurant which is great for families. Chocolate Pizza for dessert is a wonderful ending to a great meal.
Just a fantastic family place to visit. Great food, service and value. Pizza's and salad's are always crisp and fresh pasta is done to a dream and the chilli mussels are to die for. Never had a bad meal here and look forward to many visits in the future.
We originally had a Saturday evening booking for 10 of us at 6:30 pm, but were informed at 5:30 pm that "unfortunately we're overbooked and there may be a slight delay in seating your party" - not impressed, especially as it was freezing outside! And strangely enough, the establishment knew of this TWO DAYS prior!
Eventually got seated and we're packed in like sardines and the place was going off noise-wise. Took the staff a while to notice that we needed menus and wine glasses (eventuated to screaming and sign language to get the message across).
Food was middling to sub-average. I've never actually had spaghetti carbonara that was super-sweet before which needed a heap of salt to make halfway edible (and I don't normally add salt to my food). This was pretty much across the board as the person sitting next to me had the veal boscaiola and she ended up scraping most of the boscaiola sauce off the food. My partner who's a pizza afficionado had a "Supreme" which turned out "Middle of the Road"
Aside from that, the place IS good value for money, especially if you have kids, giving rise to the old adage, "You Get What You Pay For" I doubt I will be paying again.
This is not a bad local joint that is affordable to go back to if you just want to eat out mid week or go with a group of the family. It was pretty well full both times we went so worth booking. It cost about $60 for 3 of us, say $15 for a main (April 2006). It's noisy though, plenty of parking.
