I had my 50th birthday at Ruby on 20 May, about 35 people including some children. The original planning and organisation was thorough, and on arrival at Ruby I was made to feel both welcomed and valued. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff and my guests commented favourably on both the venue and the food. This really made a great day even better and I would not hesitate to recommend Ruby for a function. Thanks.

We had a work group function on Monday night for over 20 people, the food was very well priced and service was good with most meals coming out at the same time. The back section was candlelit and was very comforatable for the large group.

We had our Engagement Drinks here last weekend. We cannot say how pleased we were with Ruby's service. The beer garden has a great ambience to it. I highly recommend the place for functions!

Having not been to the Ruby in years, I was pleasantly surprised to find the place re-vamped, the beer garden was clean and had a great lunchtime atmosphere, the staff were friendly and the kitchen was efficient to say the least! The $10 lunch was such good value for money considering the portions and flavour of the food. the 'Lambwich' is a must-have for any new-goers! Will make an effort to get there again soon with a group of friends and bask in the greatness of sangria on Sundays!

Have to agree with some of the other reviews on here, especially on the food as it is nowhere near the quality of other pubs in the area. Service for drinks from the bar was ok but there is a real air of nonchalance throughout the whole place.

The menus are printed on A4 paper with no protection so are torn and covered in food and drink stains. That is after you have to go and find them yourself. Food when delivered was also just dumped on the table without a word and off they went. The food and drink prices charged just don't add up to decent value. If you were paying for the $10 lunch menu during the week it wouldn't be a problem but you expect a bit more when forking out $32 for ribs.

On the plus side the fit out they have done out the back is well done but it certainly doesn't make up for the overall lethargy of the place.

The food was ok but the service was terrible. The guy making the coffee was the rudest person I ever met in Australia and I was tempted to leave. I shall never be going back.

We have been going there on many Tuesday and Thursday nights after tennis. The 1kg ribs rack on Thursday is great value at $19.90, however, you need to check that they have it in stock before you order and pay for it, because last time we waited 90 minutes after we paid/order to be told they ran out of ribs. We got a complimentary meal and our money back afterwards, however, the steak was very ashy. I'd go there again, however, if it is busy; we'd probably leave straight away.

Plain and simple this place has gone to the dogs. Getting a drink has always been a challenge, but the service is poor at best. As for the food, this ranks well below par against some of the pub grub available at other Balmain/Rozelle pubs. Overpriced and pretentious!

Was there last weekends with a group of friends and had a wonderful time.
the new bar outside is awesome and we all had way to many cocktail jugs!
Food was great too, can't beat that lamb sandwich!

Nice pub inside and large beer garden. Shame about the quality of the food and staff service. Given that the area has the largest amount of pubs per capita in Australia I will be unlikely to rush back in a hurry.
