Overview of Roys

Warm comfortable with both regular tables and chairs, and lounges. Roys has a lawn area out back with rugs and coffee tables that make a very relaxed drinking and eating area. Great place for small to large parties and to have cocktails or just a quiet bite and beer.

From the outside you would not expect much. The door is opposite some cooking items. Once inside it's a much different story. Funky decor, nice tiled kitchen and bar area punctuated with a side board with random stuff on shelves.

Service was quite good but we were there very early Friday night so not many tables filled yet. The zucchini flowers were good. The char grilled steak with horseradish was excellent. The white bait was awful. Beautiful crispy white bait with a lovely side of aioli only to be smothered in, sweet chilling sauce. A travesty. We would go back but ask for the white bait San the SCS.

Went there for dinner the other night. I hadn't been there before and didn't know much about the place. It had been recommended by a friends who worked for Delicious Magazine. I was really impressed with the food. It wasn't amazing and the presentation wasn't spectacular but it was good decent food that was very reasonably priced. Its definitely a place I would go back to. My only issue was with the service. They staff were a little cold and they could have been a little more attentive.

Went for dinner with my adult daughter and ordered 5 dishes, Spanish potato, haloumi, garlic prawns, garlic sourdough and, for dessert, sticky date pudding. The food was nice, but not exceptional. The prawns and potatoes were probably the best of the savoury dishes. The pudding was excellent (though neither of us enjoyed the ginger ice cream that accompanied it ... yuk). With tea and juice the bill came to about $60 which was probably a bit expensive but then again this is bondi beach I suppose. Wasn't bad but would I go back? Hmmm. Probably not.

We went there for a random diner and we didn't regret it! The waitress was really nice, kind and attentive. The music was not too loud. We order meats. My partner had the lamb and couscous with tsatsiki, this dish was very tasty but still subtle. I had the waygu beef with Gratin Dauphinois and that's was just excellent, the gratin wasn't dry at all (could be because it isn't that easy to do) and perfectly seasoning, the beef was well cooked and tasty. The only thing just the portion of sides were a littlte bit too small, or maybe it is because it was really good!

So as we enjoy the mains, we ordered dessert and even if there are only 3 choices they sounds all good! We get the lemon custard with crumble and rhubarb, and we were not disappointed, it was good. So I would definitely recommend this place, with friends or just in couple! I'll be back soon as I want to taste more.

Watch out Mojo's ! - Roys is now my favourite tapas place and I've been back several times. Food is great, and the servings are larger than at most tapas places. The vibe is very relaxed, not as full on as Mojo's, perhaps, a little more cosy. I'll be back.

Absolutely terrible. The only half decent thing about my Roy's experience was the person I had with me. Stuffed mushrooms were only just edible of the 3 dishes we shared this was all we managed to finish, ambience was stiff and the staff were rude and disinterested. Worst restaurant I have been to in years.

The food was quite excellent. However, we ordered shots and they were the weakest/poorest drinks I have had in many years. At about $10 per shot (we ordered 14) it was robbery. Do not buy drinks from the bar.

I visited this restaurant a few months back and it was fantastic! The service was great and the food was of very fresh quality. We went for lunch on a sunday but I am unsure if they still open for lunch on the weekends? I will definitely go back the next time I'm in Bondi.

I've almost sold my unit and brought in my sleeping bag, this place is fantastic!.
There's nothing like a cheeky dirty martini after work or a few tapas with friends over a nice glass of boujolais, the place has a distinct vibe very hard to top in Bondi!

Sitting outside it's a rarity these days to have a welcomed smoking section, sitting outside in Winter it is heated, comfortable and with their groovy selection of music, it's seriously hard to leave. The soft shell crab is a hit, along with a fennel salad (yummo!). Very big recommendation if you're keen to knock off a few after a hard days work in the service of some top/spunky people! (you deserve to reward yourself...).

What a great bondi find! Has an outdoor courtyard area and grassed lawn for the kids to play on. Relaxed and chilled vibe, friendly service and the food is simply delicious and great for sharing with friends.
