Came here for a mid week lunch, I tried the fish & chips and it certainly didn't disappoint, the fish had a crumbed coating which was full of flavour. Food was a decent price and quality was fresh and food came out quickly. Looking forward to trying the chicken burger on brioche next time.

Very busy on a Friday night but it definitely created the atmosphere. Even though it was busy the service was friendly and wine prices very reasonable. We had the mervale special (march into mervale) and the chicken dish we had wasn't too bad. Will def come back for drinks when catching up with friends.

Don't bother unless you want to be disappointed. Stale bread on the chicken sandwich and a tastless chicken salad with a tiny bit of chicken. Won't eat here again.

Cheap and cheerful, this place seems to be busy all the time! if you get here early enough, you'll manage to get a spot. The food is actually really good! you would think that it would be extremely bad pub food but it's not. They do good specials on weeknights which is always a bonus. The veggie lasagne is really yummy as is the beef steak with the most cruncy chippies. If you're skint and want a decent pub meal with a cozy atmosphere, this is it.

I eat at the royal george once or twice a week as I work close by and its a bit small but cosy - the last few weeks the food has seem to improved somewhat I recently tried some of the specials on offer they were of high Quality - about as good as a restaurant, not bad for a pub.

The place looks alright and the atmosphere is fine, however, that would be where the warmth and charm of the place finish.

Ordered the 300 gram angus steak which was a very mediocre steak for the $18 price tag, hard to believe it was 300g or angus. I've had better steaks elsewhere in the city and fringes for a third of the price. No sooner had we finished the steak and drinks were they both scooped from the table by a less than friendly staff member. Another minute later before I had a chance to line up at the bar were we approached by another staff member who asked us if he could "use our table".

We were being asked to leave apparently because we weren't drinking? very cold, very unfriendly and definitely not a place I would visit again. Definitely not relaxing as the blurb above suggests. If you're after a good feed, nice atmosphere and good service look elsewhere.

Popped in for a quick meal after a concert at Angel Place. It was very quiet, but the service was great and the meal tasty and very good value for money.
