We were delighted with this fantastic pizzeria, after it was recommended by a friend. Not the place for an intimate, quiet dinner as it is quite noisy and crowded, however, the food was fantastic and the pizza was authentic Italian (just like we had in Italy recently).
The desserts were generously-sized and delicious, and we really enjoyed the friendly, amiable staff who were very attentive. We ordered two pizzas to share between my partner and I, so one was brought out first, and as soon as we had finished the second pizza was brought out almost immediately which was a nice aspect of the service (so food wasn't going cold on the table).
My partner and I had read a review and decided to try it out. Sunday 7 pm the place was full of mostly families but definitely a good sign. We waited until 745 to get in and boy was the wait worth it. The pizzas were beautiful, the salad fresh, the wait staff were helpful, friendly and very interactive. No corkage was a bonus. We finished with the nutella pizza. Great night and will return. Hopefully sooner rather then later.
Last night, I think I ate the best Pizza I have had in over 7 years, which was the last time I was in Italy. Wow! The 4 cheese pizza is amazing. I don't know the italian name, but it is incredible. They also had some specials which included some italian cured meats and they were absolutely fantastic. I have to go back to try the Calzone!
This pizzeria was recommended to me by an Italian friend who claimed it was the most authentic pizza she has had in Sydney outside of Italy. Big claim. But you know, this restaurant really delivers. The first thing you notice when you walk in are the "rules" on a black chalkboard, no half and half, no ham and pineapple, only authentic Italian ingredients, and no corkage! Mamma Mia! There are always a couple of "specials", the night we went pizza montana, buffalo mozzarella, pancetta, provolone and fresh porcini mushrooms, and also pizza with speck and fontina.
The pizzas are wood fired, with delightfully crispy thin bases and good quality toppings. Do try the pizza della casa if you like spicy, salami and italian sausage with rocket. The antipasto della casa is great, just baked and still warm bread sticks, sicilian and ligurian olives, prosciutto, buffalo mozarella, artichokes and sundried tomatoes. Also the antipasto bresaola with rucola and grana padano is seriously good, wafer thin slices of bresaola, lightly dressed rocket with extra virgin olive oil, in fact there was a duke out of forks for the last slice of bresaola and bread.
An honourable mention goes to the gelati (pistachio), which we had as part of the dessert trio. The waiter claims to make the tiramisu himself in house, it was good, the panna cotta well I'm not a huge fan anyway but I found it lacked the creamy silky texture I'd usually associate with a panna cotta and was a bit of a milky aeroplane jelly version.
Service is good, everyone is Italian which just helps to add to the authentic feel of the place.
This is by far the best pizza place in Sydney! Once I discovered this place a few years ago, I never looked back. The pizzas here are as you would expect in an excellent pizzeria in Italy, and dare I say, even better than half the pizzerias in their motherland.
You pay for what you get. The prices for pizzas match the quality of ingredients, and you can really taste the difference between good quality and mediocre quality. At Rosso, you only get the best. You can tell it does a good job because the restaurant is mainly with Italians (a sure sign to good Italian cuisine).
This is one of my favourite eateries in Sydney and try and get there once a week or once a fortnight. I always take friends here and in the end they become regulars as well! I highly recommend Rosso for anyone who is a lover of pizza!
This place is a hidden treasure! We had a group of 10 on a Friday night. The food all came out quickly, I was impressed, especially since every single seat in the place was full! There is no corkage (can't beat that!). The pizzas are authentic Italian and amazing. Garlic bread and salads were beautiful as well. I will definitely be going back! It is noisy and cramped, but a great place for catching up with friends over truly delicious food.
I went to RossoPomodoro last nite, after hearing my friends comment about it. I wasn't expecting a small restaurant in a neighbourhood, but it didn't stop me from trying. Ordered 3 different pizzas (Montana, something with potato in it, and something spicy..lol) and 3 of em were absolutely delicious! it was perfect! the crust is crisp, the cheese melts perfectly, not overpowering, and it taste amazing!
The only problem with this restaurant they don't have liquor licence, so you do have to BYO but thats ok! Overall, its a good place to be and its cheap! Definitely a gem!
