I enjoyed a weeknight meal at Romanos recently. There is a lovely calm atmosphere with relaxing background music and comfortable seating. Tasty garlic bread was followed by a generous serving of barramundi, chips + a side of vegetables was ordered, all delicious. Friendly service added to a very pleasant evening.

Just arrived home after an evening of epic failures. Greeted with resignation, followed by 15 minutes before order was taken. Drinks and food arrived 50 minutes later. 4 small prawns swimming in cheap oil and garlic from a jar, 6 boiled mushrooms with grey sauce. I was looking at my daughters chicken nuggets with envy!
Service was shocking until tip time when we finally got a smile when she saw the $20 left on the plate, we took the money and ran, as I suggest you do too.

My wife and I dined here tonight, our entre's were antipasto and garlic prawns. The antipasto was nice and quite adequate, except for a lack of any olive, the prawn on the antipasto more than twice the size of the ones in the garlic prawns (a total of 4 small prawns). Both entre's were $19 each. My Garlic prawns arrived in a small bowl on a large plate... no bread. When I asked if I could have some bread I was given a small roll. This roll we were charged for when we left.
Pasta and Risotto Mains, for the price, were small. When we ordered desert we asked for the Mango Gelato, the lady serving said the strawberry was nice, we said no thanks, we would like the mango. We were served Strawberry, it was ok... but not what we ordered. When we were leaving I was charged $2 for a bread roll which was about 5 cm. We arrived at 7.30 pm and left at 9 pm. There were 11 other people in total in the Restaurant.
Very disappointed, especially with the tiny garlic prawn dish, if the Owners considered them King Prawns then the prawns must have been from a very tiny Kingdom. And to add insult to such a tiny entre for a not so tiny price, to be charged for a small bead roll put the nail in this Restaurants Coffin.

A small nice authentic Italian restaurant with a well sized menu and a good atmosphere. The entree came relatively fast and was of a decent standard, similar to what you would expect in a small authentic restaurant.
After a good 1 hr for our entree dishes to be picked up, and another long 30 minutes for our main, we could conclude that the service was not up to scratch.
However, the main course was of decent standard, but with a few under cooked vegetables and a salad that does not fit its bill our meal was going a bit downhill.
With an average sorbet in an out of fashion dish tin holder, our meal ended at a note significantly lower than when we started.
Overall Romano Italian restaurant is a small authentic Italian restaurant that could be improved in many ways. With good service practices and an improvement on the quality of the food they produce, this restaurant could be much better. I probably would not be coming back but wish good luck for the future of the restaurant.

Went there last saturday. Service was so good even the place was packed. We had calamari to share. My husband ordered a steak which was cooked perfectly and I ordered veal which was nice and tender. Side order steamed vegetables and nice crunchy chips. We share a tiramisu, delicious. Thanks to the entertainment book. We will be back.

We had a lovely evening at Romano's yesterday evening. It was great to find an Italian restaurant open on a Monday night. The advantages of dining on a weekday night is that restaurants are less busy, and hence we can get a table easily. I ordered the veal which was very tender, my partner was quite pleased with his gnocchi. We shared appetizers- garlic bread and garlic prawns. The bread was crispy and the prawns were springy. Portions were very generous, and we were very stuffed after that. Service was good, and overall, it had a very homely feel to the restaurant. I think there were some regulars there as they seem quite friendly with the staff. We will definitely be back, but I might order a smaller portions, so that I can squeeze in a dessert!

First came here a couple of years ago and wasn't particularly impressed so didn't visit again until last week. Unfortunately things seem to have gone backwards in the past couple of years: service very poor - alternately very slow, then swiping our glasses before we'd finished; food was very poor - of 4 entrees and 4 mains ordered, only one was of "acceptable" quality, bread was stale and had simply been reheated, bolognese sauce was bland with no depth; chips were from a packet (seriously if you're going to charge $10+ for a side dish of chips, surely you can make them fresh?!), chicken and steak both dry and overcooked, etc; pricey. As one of very few Italian (non-pizza) restaurants on the Lower North Shore, I guess this place has a bit of a captive audience, but if you do live locally, I'd recommend you take the time to travel elsewhere. Leichhardt's really not that far away!

Baffles me that someone would invest their money into the competitive restaurant scene in Sydney and deliver quality reminiscent of Dead Horse Creek, Queensland. Delusional maybe?
Tomato sauce on veal = visual colour of Campbell soup, watery consistency, no discernible seasoning, no garlic, no garnish. Surprisingly the veal was genuine veal, tender.
Calamari, deep fried breading was doughy and infused with the flavor of inexpensive vegetable oil. Service was extremely slow. Menu Boring. Desserts were good. Above average prices for this category of restaurant and yet no table cloth. Candle remained unlit for the entire meal.
Is it true Castlecrag residents have to drive to Parramatta for decent Italian Food? Give it a miss and wait for the under new management sign to appear.

My one and only experience at this restaurant was not favourable. The service was poor, the food was poor and what was ordered was not what was delivered. We continually had to ask for missing items from our order to be brought to the table. That said the other patrons seemed to be enjoying the vibe of a pleasant early summer evening, I can’t attest for their experience with the food. We are trying all the restaurants in this area, this is not one that we will return to.

This is a pleasant local Italian restaurant. The decor has been improved and looks more stlish these days rather than the Art Deco meets English country cottage look that was previously there.
My husband and I shared a Puttanesca pasta for an entree and it was lovely. I can't remember the main (been a month since we were there) but service was efficient and polite.
We've been here several times, for lunch and dinner over the last 4 years.
