Mediocre food, tiny (mean) portions. To make for a more complete dish, you must order side dishes as extras...example..$9.00 for small dish of shoestring french fries. One needs a fat wallet and small appetite to eat here.
I can only judge Rocket by a meal here during a function for about 80 or so people. "Very very good" would be my judgment! If Rocket can turn out a 3 course meal of this calibre under the pressures & restrictions imposed by catering to a large party, I'd be interested to see what they can do when unencumbered
A fine suburban restaurant, one can enjoy good dining without having to go to the city or near city. Food is good and artistically presented. The fillet of beef was one of my finer experiences with beef in recent times. My fellow diners all enjoyed superb desserts that were flavorful and beautifully presented. Service was attentive and prompt. Somehwere to return to...
Went at lunchtime on a thursday in autumn. My dining companion ordered the beef medium and it was cooked to perfection and succulent and delicious. I had the Barramundi and again it was soft, delicate and sweet with the corn crusting which was an interesting but delicious choice. We also ordered sides of the shoe string fries and the green beans with tomato fondue.
There was definitely no fondue to the tomato, it was more a salsa with oven roast half-cloves of garlic, definitely not date material but lovely all the same. The fries were good but not well seasoned and the salt grinder on the table was close to empty.
Service was prompt if bordering on snooty but the food and atmosphere made up for it with a warm open atmosphere regardless of the number of people in there, as it filled up over the course of our lunch.
By far my favourite course was dessert with a raspberry souffle, beautifully light and delicious, served with a raspberry coulis and vanilla bean ice cream which was heavenly. You do need a sweet tooth, but paired with the Botrytis Semillion it was wonderful.
Mains are about 30 a head and glasses of wine around 10 so you could with a single course get away at about 40 pp but with an entree or dessert it is more likely to be about 60pp. I would definitely go again.
It may be a somewhat unusual location, but the dining experience was a real treat. Service very attentive and friendly, without being obtrusive, an excellent range of dishes on a brief menu, a good wine list and excellent value for money. I can't think of many restaurants on the north shore where you'd get a better overall dining experience. Well worth a visit.
Working in the area there's nothing better than taking time out to indulge oneself, and the wonderfully Spartan environment separates you from the distractions of the food courts and retail shoppers which normally accompany lunch in Chatswood.
The quality of both the food and attention to detail always strive, and while it’s not silver service, it is professional fine dining without the pomp and snooty ritual.
I have mourned the passing of the tasting plates, and am often “forced” into to ordering multiple desserts out of frustration. My biggest gripe, would be when it comes busy the background noise hits that “critical mass”, where it becomes difficult to hold a casual conversation. They have recently added a private dining area, which goes a way to address this.
Within our group of 4 we had some really great dishes (asparagus and goats cheese salad, chocolate mousse), while others were perhaps not to the same high level. The service was excellent.
A little gem in the most unlikely of places. Although the menu is small, the food is of the best quality. Uncomplicated dishes but flavours are divine. Great service to boot.
