What was supposed to be a nice lazy sunday lunch with friends...

I decided to order the schnitzel (usually a safe bet) it came out fairly quickly. An oily soggy crumbed breast of chicken, laying on some cold, wet and frozen vegies in a pool of water...which turned the chips and under crumb of the schnitzel into a soggy mess. Also a $2 surcharge for a few tablespoons of gravy.

Then some sort of brass band started up and we couldn't hear ourselves speak, incredibly loud, we ended up leaving. Almost $20 for an ordinary meal, ruined by a loud brass band, served by a girl with zero personality. Never to return.

I've lunched and dined here a few times and will again in the future, great view and even better food, service a bit slow but it's worth the wait.

Have visited a number of times, and for that perfect Sunday afternoon ambience (on a good day), the outside area overlooking the river, is hard to beat. The food, while not brilliant, was more than adequate - I particularly enjoyed the blackened steak (be careful, those Cajun spices do bite). The last time we visited there was also a good duo playing inside and the music “gently” found its way to the outside area, enhancing the experience.

Have been here for a meal 3 times now. Seems different everytime. First time average bistro club meal , second was a bit fanicer (and more expensive, but never the less enjoyable) and then again last week. Meal this time back to basics bistro club meal, nothing special but Ok. The staff were very helpful and friendly ...patrons too, we felt very welcomed. However, the draw card has to be the view and sitting alongside the river at club prices really is worth the visit.

It may be OK for dinner but lunch was disappointing. Grilled perch that cost enough not to be served so overcooked.
The accompanying vegetables were good. Although first to arrive (at midday) we were told there would be a 45 minute wait, but thankfully it was closer to 30 minutes.

Well it's a bistro where you go and order at the counter and they give you a buzzer when your meal is done. The food is solid pub fare but the view and atmosphere out on that balcony is one of Penrith's best kept secrets.

Friends invited my husband and me to the Nepean Rowing Club Restaurant. He referred to it as a Bistro though, so I was a bit dubious. The food ranged from tasty to delicious (my ribs were melt in your mouth good). Service was impersonal but adequate.

The main reason to go back though, was the view. We were seated on the balcony at 6pm, overlooking the Nepean River and with the bridge to the left of us, just like the pic on the dining page of the website. At approximately 6:20pm about a gazillion bats took to the air from a hidey-hole across the river. It was a sight that affected all on the balcony. Just beautiful and awe-inspiring. Value for money? You bet.
