Overview of River Canyon Restaurant

Situated on the banks of the Parramatta River, opened in 1984 by Italian brothers Michael & Frank; is now a casual & family dining restaurant serving International & Australian cusine.

The restaurant features a main dining room, dance floor, river views, raised area for small functions, full bar, outdoor smoking areas, live entertainment & dancing; So this makes the venue perfect for many occasions.

Weekends are our speciality with live entertainment on Thursday to Sunday Nights; Cost only $39pp for dinner, show & dj for dancing till late night.

We cater for functions & parties including engagements, weddings, family night out, Hens party nights, office parties, formals, girl’s night out, birthdays, business functions, Holy Communion lunches, christenings etc

Whole venue available exclusively for private functions, with exclusive audio & video equipment, dj, dance floor, outdoor areas etc

    I saw this restaurant advertised on Ouffer and decided to try it out since I've never been there before and love, love, love lebanese cuisine.

    I made a booking for a colleague and myself for straight after work on a Wednesday and found the entire dining experience very pleasing. We were the only patrons in the large restaurant when we arrived, however by the time we left the place started filling up.

    The deal we got was an all-you-can eat banquet which started off with lighter dishes like salad, bread and dips. Then it moved onto heavier dishes with typical lebanese food like falafel, chicken wings, tabouli and meat skewers. All which was divine with generous portions.

    My colleague and I are usually heavy drinkers whilst dining out however our beer bill was <$30 (usually $70+) this time around because we couldn't pull away from the continuous flow of delicious food!

    The service was excellent; attentive, friendly, efficient. Even the host made an effort to drop by to check in on us and have a quick chat.

    At least once a week I try to stop in for dinner here and it has fast become a favourite with my office! Great place...

    Terrible set up. Paper hides dirty linen. The chairs are worse- filthy. Nothing matches odd china, glassware and cutlery. Only 1 set of cutlery for a buffet. The food was ok but it's a buffet so I wasn't expecting much.

    We had our wedding reception at this venue and it was the most perfect choice! From the food to the service it was perfect! We had such a wonderful time and it was enjoyable. I will never forget this night and highly recommended for wedding reception or any type of functions. The flexibility of dealing with the manager was outstanding and we are truly thankful for all their help with everything! Faultless!

    We were there for christmas dinner 2012 and when we walked the place looked lovely we were seated. The food was great the drinks great service was great, plates were taken away when empty. Entertainment was great and funny at times. We were told when they when they were getting ready to taken dessert away. Then the music started and people danced. All in all a great night out, great for kids too as we had a 10 year old with us.

    This is a terrible restaurant. The food appeared as though it was cooked and then reheated, it was charcoal. The food was dry and some not edible. It had no taste. We had a voucher, you try to support local restaurants but this was a waste of money.

    River Canyon used to have such a good name but I cannot recommend this to anyone.

    Our family will never go there again. We've booked 16 people for a very important family lunch and as it turned out we're the only table in the whole restaurant. Service non-existent. No Supervisor, no manager!

    A la carte menu basic, limited, non inviting. Two hours before any mains came out. Waitress took orders from half the table for entrees only. Then came back and took orders for the other half. Result: some people got their main when the others didn’t even order it!

    Kids meals last. No water or glasses on table. Drinks very slow and coming one by one! 1.5h in and we all had one drink per person. We were there 3 hours in total and managed to get 2 drinks per person!

    No entree cutlery. No steak knives. No cutlery was replaced after the entree plates were taken away. Result: people had to share main knife and fork. Plates from entrées not cleaned away. Plain slice of bread ordered 4 times in the end. Some Lebanese naan bread came out after 2.45h! Black shriveled tiny mushrooms in pasta dishes. Black cauliflower. One person cooking in the kitchen!

    Waitress unable to communicate. In the end walks off and starts vacuuming then moping the floor. We brought our own cake but after 3 hours of this we took it back home.

    Let me start by saying that we were given a scoopon voucher given to us as a gift. As first time visitors to this venue it seemed very dark with all lights turned off and the only light was from the windows. The ambience was extremely poor!

    When we were shown our seat, the waitress asked us if we had a voucher, and that we had to present this to her prior to our meal being served. Was this because we get a different type of service/quality?

    Wish I had taken photos, but I didn't. Tabouli was served with dead and yellow parsley. The pickles looked like they were served to 5 other tables before it hit ours. The seasoned potato was soggy and you can tell was reheated. And finally the meat, extremely poor quality, was reheated in the oven, over and over. The meat didn't even come out with a steaming smell or look! I have No Doubt these servings were served to others before it hit our table.

    Disappointed with our meal, we decided to leave and explained to the waitress all of the above. She didn't seemed surprised and kept apologising knowing the quality that was being served was poor.

    This will be a place we will never go back to or recommend to anyone. I will also provide scoopon with the quality that their providers are giving their customers! Poor, poor, poor!

    We enjoyed our sunday lunch buffet this afternoon with this restaurant. One of the best restaurant in Paramatta area. Good variety of tasty food, friendly staff and a good view of paramatta river. We've been to this restaurant many times and they have a great dinner and show too.

    How disappointing! I took family here for a birthday dinner on Saturday and ended up apologising to my guests for the poor venue choice. For $39 a head you would expect a higher standard of food than the limited RSL style buffet on offer.

    The food was bland and dry. Staff did not refill dishes fast enough so many of my guests missed out on certain foods. Having to shove your way through the crowd just get to the food then see the empty dishes not being replaced just disappointing. We hovered about waiting for 10 minutes or so with everyone else before just giving up. They even ran out of tea cups! The table water we asked for twice just never turned up.

    The seating was so crowded we had other guests bumping our chairs and the Brazilian show was chubby girls in g strings wearing feathers and an over the top fake accent guy doing hand stands. The guy doing in hand stands was clearly talented but not very exciting and the music was so uncomfortably loud my guests asked if we could leave and go somewhere else.

    I suggest you go somewhere else. There are so many other nice places in Parramatta with much better value for money meals.

    Sometimes it is hard to manage, and hard to satisfy the different tastes of 250 different people each night that we serve.
    And we are a party restaurant, so the food has to be catered for all kinds of people.

    This day was not the Brazilian show, it was the Cabelsque show and it was one off that day. Sorry about this
