A Sunday lunch here after a wander around the harbour, topped of a very nice day. The service was attentive while not intrusive and the food was tongue tingling.

The serving size were spot on for both entree and mains and the mixed olives for nibbles were excellent, large bowl with grissini and very tasty. Very accessible place which we will be taking friends to very soon.

Terrible cold food. Service just wasn't there. Never again.

Visited Ripples today for our fourth visit. As in the past we enjoyed the location and company of friends. But there it ended.

Ripples is overly expensive, you are paying for the view and should for starters BYO, even with the $8 per bottle screwage as the wine prices are way over the top, even taking the location into account. How about oysters at $3.50 each (that is $42 per dozen), one would hope they are Sydney rock and not Pacific, but the menu doesn't say so. If you don't arrive by ferry, be prepared to feed very hungry parking meters as our friends did.

The food is ok, however, the "signature dish" fish and chips has gone downhill- soggy chips and frankly we should have sent the overcooked fish back, quantity has also declined from past visits.

We had an unfortunate experience with our credit cards, we opted to split the $200 bill, our friend duly signed his $100, however, we were presented with a $200 bill. I brought this to the attention of staff and they returned with a docket showing a $200 credit and a fresh bill for our $100.

On checking my smartphone on the spot, I found that the $200 had been debited along with the $100, however, no $200 credit showed. Ok, I guess the credit will arrive sometime, if it doesn't I will sort it out, however, I strongly objected to my card being processed before I auhtorised it! Very bad form.
Naturally I had a few words with the young Manager.

Will not return until there is vast improvement tabled on Eatability over many reviews. We don't mind being touched, but not felt all over. There are great restaurants on Sydney waterways that offer a superior dining experience at fairer prices.

I went with three friends on Monday night. We had a lovely table with a fabulous view of the harbor and bridge.

The service started well but I do object to the two sittings - 6 or 8:30. We had to fill in time before the 8:30 sitting at another venue as there is no bar at Ripples.

The zucchini flowers arrived soggy with oil and the tempura prawns likewise. My main gripe, however, is, that considering we had to arrive no earlier than 8:30, at 10 when we were still eating our mains we were asked whether we would be ordering coffee as they were disassembling and cleaning the machine. The staff then started stacking the chairs and taking tables that were not occupied out of the restaurant.

By 10:30 we felt we had to leave as no waitstaff had approached us since 10 as they were busy removing all the furniture. If you are a tourist who wants the view and doesn't mind being rushed out by 10:30 then this is probably the restaurant for you.

We have been coming here for years for the view and great value. But today was a trifle disappointing. We were informed of the no beer policy change, should have been mentioned when we booked. The batter on the fish was only just off soggy and the chips were the same, not a good sign for a signature dish. Check your oil guys! Staff were pleasant as is the case always.

We held an early Christmas family lunch at Ripples on Sunday 11th December. We had a table of 10, plus a baby in a pram, and went to the 2.15pm sitting.

The weather wasn't kind to us but the food and service were exceptional! Our waitress, Zoe, was very friendly and really looked after everyone extremely well. She understood we were there for a celebration so we didn't feel rushed at all.

The fact that you can take your own wine makes this restaurant such great value. Add to that a reasonably priced menu that has something for everyone, great quality food and a fantastic location and you can't go wrong.

Thanks to the team at Ripples for a fanastic start to the festive season.

Reading the other reviews, I always feel that some people do not take into account they are in a cafe not a hatted restaurant. Read Ripples website and the first line in the blurb says "Alfresco BYO cafe"

I have been here many times (in groups and as a couple) and the food is fine, it may try a little hard but it does get over the line. I go primarily because of the location - I can never tire of the view. I love the value of the BYO, I like drinking wine, but I hate spending $60-$70 on a $20 bottle. Here I have my choice and there is not enough BYO with great views in my opinion. I will definitely be back!

Obviously, this restaurant has a great location and view, and can get away with food being slightly overpriced due to this advantage. It's only a small place so I would always book in advance. The steak I had the last time I was there was very nice and cooked exactly to order, although it didn't have the most appealing presentation. The rocket & parmesan salad was unusually bland, even for a salad. Food was very slow to come out but luckily we had a beautiful sunset on show to keep us occupied.

The first time I went, I made the mistake of blindly accepting the severely overpriced mineral water offered by the waiter on the outset. Never again. I'd recommend this joint to tourists visiting from outside of Sydney, and on a day with nice weather. You get over the view after a while if you're a Sydneysider.

Nothing really stood out here except for the consistent mediocrity. We came here for dinner on Thurs night. It took some time to get menus and drink orders. Staff were welcoming enough. Have to agree with the below par food comments. Peking duck was a hopeless abomination of a chinese classic. No flavour at all. Stodgy at best. Also had the prawn risotto which lacked any flavour, and absolutely no salt. From the recent comments it is clear a change in the kitchen is required to bring this place up to the standard of the other Ripples which offer far better meals. Also disappointed that our top two choices of wines were out of stock. Vegetarian options also limited. Of course there is always the location and view which are superb, although the plastic tent structure leaves much to be desired. Our group found the desserts more appealing that the rest of the meal.

The Peking Duck fritters were stodgy and stale, Where was the duck? The special of Silver Dory was per-cooked and served swimming in cold sauce on a cold plate. This was a very disappointing visit to a place which we used to love.
