Staff are long standing hospitality types with excellent knowledge on food, wine and how to make regulars feel welcome....
Situated on the magnificent Sydney Harbour the view here is uninterrupted bar the tinkering of a few boats. Views reach from Pyrmont, to the bays of the North Shore and a peak through to Sydney's tower and CBD scape. Leading architect Sidney Koh has designed the mostly alfresco restaurant space to compliment the wharf environment. A modern glass structure houses an open plan galley kitchen & a 12 metre long marble bar with stool seating. The deck area makes the most of the harbour fronted environment with comfortable modern seating.

We ordered the share platter to start with that compiled of: 3 crostini sticks, pickled vegetables and salami. Not really what you'd call a share platter.
My dining partner ordered the fish of the day (swordfish) it looked lovely. I ordered the porterhouse steak. To say that I was disappointed was an understatement. Firstly the dish looked less than appealing. A round steak on a small rectangle dish with the gravy pooled inside the steak, not around the steak or in a jug, but on top of the steak..why do restaurants generally do that, because they generally tried to hide a poor cut of meat with the gravy. It came with 3 very small potatoes (about the size of 50 cent pieces) and some creamed spinach.
The steak was inedible. It was riddled with thick seams of fat and I would also go so far as to challenge whether it was a porterhouse cut.
We then ordered the cheese platter. It was placed in front of us with no description of what the cheeses were, we had to guess. Again small portions and I'd question the quality. The only reedeeming feature was the wine waiter, who was helpful and attentive.
I won't be going back. In fact I should have asked for my money back.

Food was Ok but very very disappointing service at Ripples. The day was unseasonably hot and my daughter, granddaughter and I (over 70 yrs) were very uncomfortable seated next to the plastic sheeting in the full glare of the midday sun. We asked the waiter to move and he said all other tables were booked.
Finally, after being so hot we did not enjoy our meals I asked the senior staff to be moved. He again said no, everything was booked. We left as it was so unpleasant. There were at least 12 empty seats out of the sun in the restaurant all the time we were there. When I said this to the senior staff on the way out he lost it and said that was because I was late! I was late (my daughter and granddaughter were not), I had difficulty finding the restaurant as it was my first time there and my last.

We arrived for a late lunch yesterday. We were greeted by a waitress that was not in a good mood. She lead us to a table that was dirty and when we saw that she was ready to set it up, we kindly asked her to please clean it first. This is just an example of how clueless the service was throughout the whole experience, which is really disappointing as the location is wonderful and their food is great.

Stunning location, very helpful and attentive staff. I was a bit disappointed with my meal. I ordered something that I eat very rarely, fish and chips, hoping for a good quality fish and (it was not mentioned on the menu) hand cut chips.
Fish tasted good but the amount of batter dominated the thin strips of fish. Unfortunately, the chips were soggy and had that sad taste of chips from the freezer. What a pity. I really wanted to rave about having a great serve of fish and chips in such a wonderful location. I will have to visit my favourite Portuguese restaurant to enjoy my rare portion of hand cut chips again.

The quality of the food at Ripples Pyrmont is very high with good sized servings. The same, however, cannot be said about the inattentive staff. Also do not go to this restaurant when the weather is bad, as the restaurant is cold and draughty, and the lack of heating detracts from the quality of the food.

My family and I dined at Ripples, Sydney Wharf yesterday for lunch in the pouring, torrential rain, but I have to say that the service and food was so good, there would be no other place that we would have rather been. We arrived absolutely soaked and the staff were so lovely to get us cloths to dry off and turned the heater up for us. We went there as part of a deal on Agenda, but were treated wonderfully and not like 2nd class citizens which is quite often the case when you use vouchers.
Despite the horrid weather, the place was packed and everyone appeared to be having a wonderful time. Fabulous food and attentive, lovely waitstaff will ensure that we go back there again (hopefully when the sun is shining to take advantage of the gorgeous view!).

Service was great. We were the only people there on a rainy night. Had the wagyu pot pie which was average at best. Night was topped off by a ridiculous $60 charge for cakeage for a birthday cake we had brought. Would never visit again.

We were in Sydney for the Sydney Good Food & Wine Show at the Exhibition Hall. We were exhibiting our wine from Lerida Estate at Lake George. We decided to have a lunch nearby so headed to this restaurant. It was a glorious day. We had the natural oysters with lime, pomegranate and vietnamese mint dressing with the Lerida Estate 2010 Viognier. It was a food match made in heaven!
For my main I had the seared scallops with a shiitake mushrooms omelette and chilli jam. This was also a great match for the Viognier. Jim had the tomato, chorizo and white bean soup with toasted focaccia and romesco with a glass of the Maximus Old Vine Grenache from McLaren Vale. But the Lerida Estate Viognier was the highlight of the lunch for us. A perfect Sydney wine! If you haven't been to this restaurant, you are missing out.
Fabulous location, gorgeous food, attentive and prompt service and of course a great wine list! Next time I am having the braised lamb shanks. I Love lamb shanks.

I have been taken to Ripples at Sydney Wharf twice in the last 12 months and on both occasions have been extremely disappointed with the quality of food. On the both occasions the food was flavourless and was left uneaten as was the food of my fellow diners. On a positive note, the location and setting is lovely. Perhaps, best for a drink.
