Loved the food. The steaks are very juicy and tender. The views are lovely over Manly Beach with intriguing artefacts displayed throughout. We would be regulars if it wasn't so over priced but can only afford to go on special occasions.
Have been here twice and the first time was absolutely fantastic. The second time around, service was missing but still a fairly good overall experience. Steaks were cooked just right but are a little overpriced (probably paying for the location).
I have been here a handful of time over the last few months, and the food and service are very inconsistent. The first time I came here, the ribs and steak were perfectly cooked, the second time I ordered the same thing, my steak came out really dry. Other times I've been here, I can only describe the quality as "hit and miss".
Similarly, the service is average - the only times the wait staff were extremely attentive was when they needed us out before 8 for another table!
The steak was amazing, the ribs very large but flavourless, real shame. They looked so amazing. Great bit of rump though. Very busy with slow service, no big deal.
We stopped by the Olympic Park branch (part of the same chain) for a quick lunch on our way to something else, telling staff that we had less than an hour and asking if that would be an issue - we were assured it wouldn't be. Our food however took so long to arrive that we were 15 minutes late for our appointment and had to bolt our food; and get our bill while we were still eating.
The food itself was OK. Perhaps had we been in less of a hurry we would have enjoyed it more, though my chicken burger contained suspiciously chemical tasting chicken breast; it was succulent as advertised but my suspicion is that the succulency was connected to that oddly chemically after taste.
Plus the side salad (and burger bun) contained some badly wilted, practically rotting lettuce - hideous flaw in a salad. Friends liked their burgers which came with a huge portion of fries, and the steak looked good. Wouldn't rush back but it's OK as a filler if you're doing other stuff at Olympic Park (which lets face it, you probably would be).
Have dined here a few times now, keep going back for the food, the portions are huge!! It's very noisy and hot! This place is always packed so make sure to book.
Will keep going back.
If you can deal with a very loud restaurant with poor service then your night out will be rewarded. The food is great, with a wide variety of meats cooked to perfection. Definitely the place to go with a big group as you would be ignored with out sheer numbers. The service is hit and miss, more often than not the staff are rude and pushy but in a big group its not too much of a problem (more of you to try to get attention). The Ribs are fantastic!
We had a group of 30+ come for dinner a few weeks ago. The area was quite nice and the ambience was ok but a little like a mess hall, quite loud and public. I wouldn't take a date there for an intimate dinner.
The food was quite nice. The menu is really just ribs and rumps definitely not vegetarian friendly or friendly at all. Staff were quite rude and sparse for such a large restaurant. When you have such a large group you tend to expect a little bit better service than usual, not the case at all, in fact we were close to be ignored. One waitress told us we couldn't even order the birthday girl a drink and send it over to her.
Overall the food is nice but is very overpriced, steak and chips is not difficult nor hard to come by so value is certainly not going to bring you to dine here. If you feel like ribs then by all mean this is the place for you, for everyone else don't bother.
Before returning to Ribs and Rumps I was told recently that it had changed significantly (for the worse) since the change of ownership. Last night this wasn't at all apparent. I went on a tuesday night with 10 others for a birthday dinner. The service was friendly (although for one waitress it seemed forced) and the restaurant was only about 1/3 occupied, so we had no trouble conversing with each other nor did we have any delays with our food.
For starters we shared a couple garlic cobs which were quite nice. Our mains we equally tasty, I had the double burger with pepper sauce, the birthday boy went for the seafood steak and the standard kilo of ribs were served to a couple of our friends. Everybody seemed happy with their meals and enjoyed the night. The pricing of some meals was questionable but you are probably paying for the location (and hopefully good quality produce).
