One of the best meals I have had in a long time. The rack and roll was so delicious my heart skipped a beat. Service was extremely good, very attentive and good humoured. The cheese trolley had some excellent australian and international cheeses and we all left very satisfied both gastronomically and emotionally. Highly recommended.

Had dinner here with some friends last week. Walsh bay seemed kinda dead that night and the restaurant was only half full. I suppose everyone went to the theatre that night. Missing out dudes, should've come for some pre-show din dins.

The place is well designed. The exposed beams, washed out paint and curtains give the place a comfortable feeling. My friends had commented on the cutlery, saying that it was of a very high quality and they wished upon a star that one day they could have a dinner setting just like Arras.

The service is great. We were made to feel comfortable straight away. The staff are very knowledgeable about the wines and the dishes. The food, I can only comment on what I had because no one was willing to share. The amouse bouche was a prawn cocktail. A single prawn served on some slate. I'm not a big fan of prawn cocktails but I suppose it was well cooked.

My friend had the vegetarian version which looked really good. I should've asked for that one. For the entree' I had the quail and the egg. Boned quail with a self saucing egg in the middle served with lentils. Oh my, it was delicious. Just add salt to the yoke after you've cracked the sucker open and enjoy.

I had checked out the menu on the web a few days before and was really looking forward to the rack on black. Unfortunately, it was no longer on the menu. I had the pork trotter instead. The waiter described the trotter as a very technical dish with moroccan/asian spices. The trotter came with some pork cheek which was glazed in something but tasted too much like the trotter itself.

Would've benefitted from being glazed in something with more bite. The trotter was excellent. Boned and slowly cooked so that the skin was soft and gelatinous and the meat sooooooooooo tender. The cinnamon and fruit flavors were strong but not enough to overpower the taste of pork.

The dessert was my favourite. Bitter chocolate with a chocolate sorbet. Easily the best dessert I have had 12 months. Pre dessert (almond paste wrapped in pastry)came at no extra charge as did the petit fours. Gotta love a place that says, take as much as you want.

ps. don't fill up on the bread. I know it comes at no extra charge, they keep offering it to you and its delicious. If you eat too much bread you won't have enough room for the great food.

Will definitely come again (please put the rack on black back).

I dine out twice a week and rarely, rarely, rarely at the same place, it is our goal to visit all the restaurants in the Good Food Guide both here and the rest of Australia. To Arras I would return without an issue, in fact after our experience I am probably going to arrange my sister's birthday here!!

The food is unique amongst the majority of usual (and boring) suspects in the Australian dining scene. There are few restaurants that standout, either by offering something unique or challenging our senses. I have my favourites and this place has just been added to that list.

The food is Fresh!!! When dining out, it is rare that a seafood dish does not smell like seafood, seafood being the only food where if it smells fishy you probably should not be eating it. But how many times when eating out I am about to order a seafood dish when the next table gets theirs and I can smell the fish from where I am sitting, needless to say I end up ordering something else. Not here, the seafood cassoulet was delightful bowl of the ocean, delicate flavours of the sea.

My fish for main was superb, the fish cooked perfectly and again so fresh. My partner had the quail and the egg, very clever entree and the stuffed pork trotter, amazing dish, rich without being overly sweet or cloying.

This restaurant is very generous. The portion servings are ample, there is no extra cost for sides, the mains come complete with whatever needs to accompany them. There is an amouse bouche, there is also a pre dessert surprise (light and cleansing Lady Grey Creme Brulee), there is a variety of delicious and free bread that is baked on premises, and the petit fours are extremely tempting, if you can fit them in after a 3 course meal, that is!!!

The place itself is beautiful, spacious but warm. I love its location although I do think that this place relies more on word of mouth than passing trade. There is also lots of parking.

For a 3 course meal with a $120.00 bottle of wine, plus 2 beers, a glass of armagnac and two coffess the bill came to $320.00, you do the math. You could easily pay a lot less for so much good and generous food. We have paid a lot more for a whole lot less both in serving portions and most importantly in food quality. Highly recommended.

What a treat! English cooking fused with the best of OZ and it works. Staff were experienced and still enthusiastic. Excellent wine list with an intelligent sommelier. All dishes we tried were sublime but the Celeriac 5 Ways took my breath away. A wonderful innovative addition to Sydney's at times too predictable dining scene.

I took my partner here for dinner a few weeks back, and we both absolutely loved it. The food was sensational, especially the crab bread and butter pudding. The yorkshire cream tea was clever, but a little too sweet and heavy. The service was warm, attentive and efficient. We are really looking forward to coming back.

Hard to judge properly as we were there for a Sydney Magazine readers' dinner, with a fixed (very expensive) menu. The service was friendly and attentive, but the meal took an unforgiveable 3 1/2 hours, over 1 1/2 hours before the entree arrived. The amuse bouches (2 before the entree and 1 before the dessert) actually were more interesting than the 3 courses.

The main event signature "rack on black" lamb was extremely good, but the seafood cassoulet entree was a boring mass of white beans, with very little actual pieces of any discernible seafood. The signature deconstructed "Yorkshire cream tea" dessert was appalling, bland, and in the case of the scone layer, inedible. I would guess that 95% of these were returned partly or wholly uneaten.

On top of $170 a head for the deg menu (including quite good matched wines, except for an extremely boring sticky) we were also unexpectedly charged $18 for 2 bottles of mineral water. Yet for all this there is definitely a hint of greatness, and I'd certainly like to give the place another try, maybe in 6 months or so when the hysteria about it has settled down. On tonight's performance, however, definitely not worth the rave reviews.....

It has been many years since I have enjoyed a restaurant experience as much as this one. The food was sublime and the service was perfect. Great to go out with friends and be able to hear the conversation. A huge amount of skill and effort must go into looking this relaxed. I want more.

Went here on a Saturday evening - I thought it was absolutely great. The dishes are all a clever play on words and heavily influenced to (much maligned) English cooking. Menu will continue to evolve but it is still in its infancy. A hearty recommendation.

Food was pre-cooked, not fresh, just reheated. Prices were Very overpriced. I couldn't believe a $21.00 plain cucumber sandwich.

I went here a few weeks back and it was good. British inspired so quite different from your typical fare. I had the fish that comes with the whole garlic bulb which was excellent.
