I have visited this cafe over a long period and have seen it go from a brilliant vibrant place to a mess! The coffee was well below sub standard and the food terrible! The new management seem to have begun with a brilliant prospect and now have ended up with obnoxious waitstaff and cannot find a simple answer to manage a complaint!
I think it is a great loss of talent when their creative young female chef left and I do believe that in her leaving their business has completed its fall from grace, sad to see!
Coffee was great but I received the tiniest piece of fish I've ever seen when I ordered the Perch fillet and salad. Was around the size of a standard fish finger. I complained and was first told that it was a standard portion (have you even eaten a standard portion in 2 forkfulls?) and then that it was only 1/2 a fillet (not what the menu said). For the restaurant price it was the worst value I've had in a long time. Very unhappy. What a rip-off. Will not go back.
Okay the food isn't bad - I've had the squid dish which is absolutely delicious. The old wedges they had 1 year ago were the nicest then they changed it somehow and it became oily then they changed it again to regular chips and it's not bad. A bit pricey but then it is more than a takeaway place.
The decor is beautiful. The ambience is ok; there are lots of things to look at besides walls as it is surrounded by boutique shops which have beautiful clothes. If that fails to tempt, then you can feast your eyes on the waitresses and the guys behind the counter for some eye candy.
The service is slow, but they are very busy and the food is pretty good quality so worth the wait. Not a rush job at all more a take your time to eat place. The communal tables are the most comfortable to sit at. Overall it is aimed at people who are willing to fork out the money to pay for gourmet food. They have a good range of different foods available and the cakes are really delectable - try the chocolate raspberry brownie which is to die for! Coming from a chocoholic who has eaten practically every type of chocolate dessert there is and I bake pretty good brownies myself!!
The coffee is usually good depending on who is making it. They are quite accommodating with their menu and they are pretty fair at the cafe and generally nice but you do get the odd rude service person at the till who won't crack a smile even if they had won a million dollars. Overall go see for yourself, it is on the expensive side but it is probably one of the better places to eat in Chatswood chase. I like the convenience, quality in food and great music wafting out to the tables.
The quality of the food is great just try the squid. It's hard to comment on the ambience.. It is a shopping mall. It is expensive but I know I'm getting quality food. I think the new chef has brought a new touch to the place.
The Whiting fish fillets tasted great but was so small that I only got about 3 mouthfulls of fish. Bought a takeaway afterwards as I was left so hungry. Other dishes seemed reasonable in size. Maybe I was unlucky or they were short of fish. Service was very slow but they forewarned us that they had a backlog of orders.
