Have been having dinner in the restaurant and it's ok, however, when order delivery, it arrives late, it's cold and yes when complaining, reply I get is "put it in the microwave, not on! keep away from take aways from this place.

I am obsessed with Thai food and drive from five suburbs away (passing many other Thai restaurants) to get a bit of Red Onion. I just can’t understand the bad reviews? We generally get take away but have had lovely service when we get the chance to eat in. Try the BBQ Yum salad, loaded with fresh herbs. My non salad-eating husband scoffs this one down. It’s my favourite!

We came here on NYE for a quick dinner before hoping to catch the Dee Why 9pm fireworks. We got there at about 7:50pm and ordered a mixed entree of a money bag, spring roll, peanut satay stick and fried dumpling. It was simple and tasty but took about 15-20 minutes to arrive, despite there being only a handful of tables taken, and only two other people before us in the line.

Our mains of pork ribs with mixed vegetables was very tasty and sweet, while the chicken yellow curry was presented well. Overall, a very inoffensive menu and one could say, geared to the Western palate rather than traditional Thai. We ate as fast as we could due to the slow service but by the time we got out of there at 8:50pm, it was too late to catch the fireworks. A bit of a letdown but at least we didn't get sick from the food to ruin the rest of the night!

Went there for the 1st time with a friend for dinner for something cheap + BYO and was very impressed! Service was excellent and food was delicious and fresh! Wasn't many other people in the restaurant which was good for us. Prices are cheap as well! I regularly use them for a take-away and home delivery option as well.

Very bad service experience: ordered a delivery, got confirmation sms with delivery time for 7.25, I called around 7.45 to ask what was happening, was told it was on the way. We then received a phone call at 8 pm that we had to go and pick it up, the order finally arrived at 8.11, after we had cancelled it over the phone with the senior staff. And they tried to put the blame on us saying we had told them we would pick it up: why would we have ordered delivery in the firt place? Apologies? None...that is no way to treat customers. I will never eat from that restaurant again.

Really suprised by this place. Got the chicken laksa and the green curry chicken. Laksa was delicious and service was great (although the place was almost empty on the Tuesday night). Will definitely be back.

Don't think I've ever rated a thai restaurant badly before because I love the food but this was not a nice dining experience! The food was ok but definitely not outstanding by any means, while the "Red Onion" special soup tasted like it was made from powdered stock and absolutely horrible!

Ambience, what ambience? despite going on a weeknight and the place being more than half empty, we were crammed in between other tables full of people despite the rest of the restaurant being empty, this made it very hard to have a conversation.

Service, this was the worst part and I don't think I have come across worse service in Sydney! The staff we dealt with simply did not speak english! which made it difficult to find out anything about the food and inevitably lead to mistaked being made with our order. Value, can't say that it was really expensive but there are places out there that offer much better food at a lower price! Mains are a good size for the price but skip the entrees as the ones we tried were expensive and unimpressive.

Over all there are much better places out there to eat!

I highly recommend Red Onion! The food is very flavoursome and they clearly use fresh ingredients. It's inexpensive as well. Also the service is quite good. It can get very busy on the weekend, but for good reason!
