Had hotpot upstairs which was good on a chilly night. The soup flavours were good but portion sizes were quite small.

The restaurant is quite spacious and comfortable but we had unpleasant service from the waiters. Initially, we thought maybe for some reason, it was just our table but then noticed that every other table had the same service.

Overall, am not interested in going back again.

We have been more than regular customers to the Dixon St shop and it has always been good until the last couple of months. When we get take away, the size has dramatically reduced. The red chilli chicken used to fill up 2 containers whilst now it is hardly even one. If they do not improve soon I'll have to scratch this one off my list.

How many times have I been deflated by restaurants who say they offer genuine Sichuan cuisine yet dish me up some disappointingly toned down version. Red Chilli however so blantly ignore the the word moderation and do not spare you the joyful burning sensation of chilli madness as if to prove me wrong. Damn authentic Sichuan!

By the way don't believe the waiter who says 'It's just little bit spicy' to every dish you ask 'How hot is this one?' I swear I saw him smile when I asked for my 3rd beer with tears in my eyes.

Food: Went upstairs for hotpot. The soup is very well seasoned, and the chilli soup is quite potent, giving the food very strong flavours. There is also a large selection of food and sauces.

Ambience: This place is very busy during peak hours, and like all Chinese restaurants, the place is loud because of all the talking.

Service: The staff are very friendly and helpful, and there seem to be an abundance of them because there is always someone available. Food service is very fast. The only minor issue is that their English is poor.

Value: Total around $35, very good value all things considered.

This is definitely one of my go-to places in China Town. Sure, it is not for everyone as chili isn't use sparingly! Even the dishes marked as mild are only for chili lovers. The menu is quite large and the choice can be overwhelming but everything I've tried so far has been delicious. Despite chili being at the heart of every dish there are many other delicious flavours hitting your palate at every mouthful. I particularly like the mince pork and lotus root. The mixed seafood stir-fries are also delicious. To be enjoyed with a cold Asian beer!

Good spicy Sichuan cuisine though must agree with others and say the service is neither warm nor friendly. Caters to a healthy number of Chinese which is a good sign.

Second time at this Red Chilli, and both times we've had some great tasting food. This time we had dumplings with hot and sour sauce, and shredded pork with pancakes - both great. Unfortunately we didn't manage to find the steamed and deep-fried bread with condensed milk that we had last time, and when we asked the waiter she didn't seem to know what we were talking about - which shows the downside of the language barrier at times.

Went for dinner last night. Had been here twice before and it was quite good and reasonable. Last night the food was disgusting. Three of us had peking shredded pork which was revolting, we barely touched it! Another had a lamb dish which tasted like it had come from a dirty kebab shop-terrible. Another had a king prawn dish which was swimming in MSG.

Spring rolls were the best thing to come out of that place. The staff repeatedly brought the wrong food out, i.e. we asked for two portions of prawn crackers, they brought out 2 crown beers? I suspect we paid for all their mistakes too, and we never did see those prawn crackers. We will never be back!

For those who love chilli, the fish hot pot is a must try. Prices and services are typical of Chinatown.

Overall, Red Chilli Sichuan is an ok restaurant, but certainly not spectacular. We had booked before arriving, and because some of our party were slightly late, asked the waitress if we could possibly wait for a few minutes to order. She informed us that the next booking for our table was 2 hours later, so we would have to order asap. I thought this was a bit rude, and felt compelled to eat quickly lest the other patrons be kept waiting.

The food was alright, but I wouldn't rave about it. One of the chilli dishes was virtually inedible, it was so hot, but there was little warning on the menu.
