Overview of Red Chilli Sichuan Restaurant

Red Chilli Sichuan Restaurant (Habour Plaza) is a newly established Sichuan restaurant in the heart of the city. Finely decorated in traditional Sichuan Style makes you feel the southwestern culture of China. All the main sources are directly imported from China in order to keep the flavour authentic. A burst of spicy flavour from the combination of seafood and chillis will definitely inspire your appetite.

Very disappointing experience. Must be the only large restaurant I have come across that does not take Amex. While some dishes were quite nice, others were disappointing and I believe the use of so much Chilli allowed the use of poorer quality meats. I took 25 people to dinner here, I won't be back.

It was our first Sichuan Restaurant, we will never forget it. Our favourite discoveries were the Sea Asparagus salad (Wow!), the tea smoked duck, the Cumin Lamb so spicy amazingly new flavour for us even if cumin is a classic one, the Sichuan pepper added a whole new level to our food adventures.

A few days later, we were at the Chinese supermarket buying all the basic Sichuan pantry after buying the amazing "Land of Plenty" book. We are enjoying Sichuan cooking at home since and have been back to Red Chilli (and a few others) many times. Thank you for this amazing journey into Sichuan culture!

Second best Sichuan restaurant in Sydney, but the best location. Don't go if you dislike oily, spicy food. However, if you do like it, you'll be well rewarded. Large quantities and intense flavours.

Went on a busy friday night, huuuge amount of choices, we found the service excellent, and the food came out quickly. I thought the food was a little pricey, but our seafood hotpot was so large we could not finish it, and the dumplings were excellent.

I noticed our dishes and other tables were very oily, almost soup, maybe it is a style of dishes I am not used too? if you do not like hot and spicey, steer clear, but I love chilli, and enjoyed it. I would probably pay the extra $7 plate at spice temple for their restaurant experience, but it was ok.

We went for the hotpot buffet option, but for a group of 13 people, the restaurant staff thought they could serve $5 of food, ignore the table and still make everyone pay the full price. Staff were appalling when it came to service and gobsmacked when the group wanted to order drinks. Poor service on a thursday night, average quality of food and complete disinterest earn this place the "will never visit or recommend" mark.

Really enjoyed the meal here, went there before a concert and it is a great little find. The menu is easy to navigate and lots of pics too (what is it with asian restaurants and photos in menus?!). Cold tsing tao beers go down a treat with this sort of food so we knocked off a few of those bad boys to fire up for the food.

We only tried a few dishes and I wish we had time or bigger stomachs for more, the kung po chicken was awesome, if a tiny bit too hot. The salt and pepper prawns were excellent and we had a mishap with ordering the beef dish - mixed communication. We thought it was beef tenderloins, it was been tendons - now let me tell you, these are an acquired taste. Like a finger width slab of fat but tastes like. Give them a miss unless you are trying to impress someone.

Service was pretty good, helpful and fast. Points only off for having to go out of the place and down to a scabby toilet in the centre, not much fun.

Service was efficient and venue/setting of the restaurant is nice but omg the food was so salty and very spicy! We ordered a variety of dishes to share between six people, but to my taste buds I just found the food to be overly salty and spicy so I couldn't taste the flavors of n the actual dishes themselves. I guess I can say I have tried sichuan cuisine but it's not something I'll come back for.

I was expecting it to be pretty much the same food as the Dixon St restaurant, but in a nicer setting. How wrong was. Somehow the food is better. It tastes cleaner. The flavours are clearer: It's like every flavour has been set to target an exact area of the mouth.

Love love love this place, the food is always excellent no matter when and which branch we end up at. So many choices and all are really spicy, so if you like the kick, go for it! You won't be disappointed.

I love a new Chinese restaurant and this one is definitely now one of my favorites. Started with a cold pork main as an entree while we studies the menu. Different at first but it grew on us quickly and there was no spice to this (as in Chili). My partner is not into chili so hence the studying but our choices were great. The garlic eggplant was as good as Spice Temple if not better for half the price and the chicken with peanuts again was superb. The wine list is pretty good too which a decent selection, we had a Riesling from Clair Valley.
