Dined there last Sunday night with 3 girls friends amazing food, great location and I can't stop thinking about the amazing chocolate pudding. There was a large group present whom one of the friends I was dining with knew, there were a bit loud but it was a lovely place. I'm going back tonight!
Not been for a while, not sure why, the food was superb! Big portions great service and nothing was any trouble. We has many special requests, celiac, fish allergies, vegos all were handled no drama. We ordered too much food and the waitress allowed us to swap some of the set menu items with what we wanted. All in all great food, great service and top night.
For a Spanish family restaurant the menu is quite up market and the prices are very reasonable. The food was fresh and tasty, the chicken croquettes, the garlic prawns were very good but the pork belly and the paella were the best I have had.
Terrible value for money. We ate the banquette and did not get served the main course. We spent three long hungry hours in the restaurant only to be fed bread and prawns. One of my friends does not eat seafood so he was limited to just bread. It cost $40 (inc corkage) for the poorest quality meal I have ever had. Vey slow, very expensive. Not recommended.
Response from Management:
Dear Emw83
Sorry, but I have to disagree on several points with you.
Firstly you did not sit for 3 hours eventhough your booking was for 7.30pm your group did not arrive or were ready to order till 8.18 when I got the go ahead on the banquet and even then 1 person was still to arrive. We have digital video footage to confirm this.
I am not sure where you were on the night but there were 8 tapas courses served on your table, plus breads and salads.
Oh by the way, your table ordered the Tapas Banquet. I am not sure what you mean by “not having been served the main course”??? There are no main courses only tapas.!!
Your Table received, not only prawns and bread but also house salads, croquettes, quesadillas, meatballs, calamar, chorizo dips w/ toast, octopus, and potato bravas .
You did cancel the Churros because there really was a 30 min delay however we did deduct $77. from your bill which more than compensated for the churros.
You and your friend Tom sent me an email and told me I should refund your money or you would tell everyone how horrible we are and how terrible the food was and that we should feel ashamed.
I dont feel ashamed, I know you recieved good service and quality fresh ingrediants, and plenty of them. No one complained on the night? Infact commented on the great food.
I ignored these emails on the grounds that it seemed more like an “extortion attempt” rather than a real complaint.
We had the cheap 3-course set menu. The food was very tasty and the portions generous, although I would say at times it does use general Mediterranean flavours and styles, for example with the Chicken Schnitzel. For really authentic Spanish I would try Kika Tapas, but no complaints, it was a very pleasant meal. The highlights were the complimentary chorizo dip and the rice pudding. For dessert. The food came out fairly quickly and we all left feeling satisfied.
I went for a friends birthday with a group of 28. One table had 15 and the other 13. One table only had 2 tapas to share. The portions were so small, not to mention each tapas took at least 30 minutes. We got one plate of chorizo with 2 slices of bread to share between 7 people? We had the banquet for $40 but it was not worth it, it took 3 hours to bring out the banquet. The value was poor. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Response from Management:
Dear Dan
Originally this event was booked for 30 persons it was reduced to 28.
Only 25 turned up, you placed your selves on 2 tables 14 and 11.
We rarely have had a complaint about the size of our portions.
You were sent out an extra tapa course not to mention we included Paella at no extra cost.
If there was any delay it was initially as some of your group arrived late.
It did not take 3 hours for the banquet to be served.
There was a 20- 30 min delay after the first 5 courses.
All of the waiters complained about the discourtesy and intolerance of some of the members in this group.
Fernando attempted to resolve the situation with the person who booked the event. Who turned his back on him and continued to talk to others on the table. Fernando walked away.
We have driven past this place a million times, this time we decided to stop. A lovely gentle family doing a marvelous job. The food really is very good, we had the chorizo puffs, garlic prawns, the calamari was tender and perfectly seasoned but the highlight were the croquettes (melt in your mouth creamy and tasty) hubby had the steak (perfectly medium rare), portions were quite large so we couldn't eat any more. The service was friendly and efficient. Next time we will take friends so that we can try more dishes and dessert.
I was really impressed, the food was great. Great flavours, fresh and light not greasy or heavy. Outstanding was Spanish Tuna Pies and the sticky pork. Rice Pudding was a treat with a crunchy meringue topping and the sweet crema catalana against the sharpness of the raspberry compote was perfect. The service was adequate and friendly I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant even for fussy foodies. Excellent Value.
Heaps of food. The platter was amazing and good value for two. We could have sufficed on just that. But we ordered three more dishes, the prawns in spicy tomato sauce was really good, my girlfriend ordered the churazo was dry and unedible. Overall, we weren't disappointed but wouldn't eat there again. Too many restaurants in Sydney to try but definitely worth a visit...
We had planned to go for dinner but due to circumstances we only ended up going here for dessert, and I am glad we only went for dessert as only 4 out of 7 of us got our order! The setting is nice and the dessert wasn't over priced so I have given credit where credit is due.
Of those of us who received our order, 3 of us had the Churros and in my opinion they were cold and a bit soggy (too oily) when served and the chocolate was fairly tasteless and lacking in quantity. The other one of us who received their order only had a Mocha, which was also cold and was lumpy. The other 3 who had ordered dessert waited and waited reminded the waiter and waited then watched three deserts walk past us to the table beside us... and waited some more - so we gave up, cancelled the order and walked out quite gob-smacked, do they really want our business, obviously not!
Response from Management:
Dear Kiwichops
Yes its basically true what you say, without going into defensive details of the actual sequence of the event.
However we had been very busy that night we had two of our chefs on holiday from the 20th Dec till the 2nd of January.and with 2 stand-in chefs that were unfamiliar with our food and our procedures – mistakes were made during a busy and hectic service.
I did apologise as you were leaving as did the waiter and Raquel
Of course we care not only for your business but for your comfort and overall enjoyment.
The kitchen is now back to normal, we have a fantastic new menu that we are very excited about.
As is usual for us we have reflected on our past mistakes and have taken positive action to improve and consolidate our service and attitudes both front and back of the house.
We hope one day you would try us again and we would be able to convert you to one of our many satisfied patrons.
