This restaurant is a very delightful addition on the quaint side of Pyrmont. My partner had suggested this place after looking at the review/ratings. I was skeptical but after dinner, definitely converted.
We ordered the grilled fish and the duck confit. Food was divine, words really wouldn't justify the beautiful blend of tastes, which were not over powering.
Service very genuine and food gets served as soon as it leaves the kitchen.
Definitely earned every point on their reviews!
First time at this restaurant and were very pleasantly surprised. The service from the minute we arrived was flawless, the seating near the exquisite glass and silver light ball and of course the fantastic food.
My partner had the pate and said it was the best! I had very tender calamari with a bitey sauce. Next I had the Wagyu beef which was very delicious, my partner the pork. We shared a Tiramisu ice-cream dessert also delicious. The wine list was small, however, the sauv blanc we chose was just right. I think this was superb food without a major pricetag.
Came here for their pre theatre 2 course special prior to going to a show. Location was great as the restaurant was just a few minutes walk from Star City. The meal was most enjoyable and delectable without being fancy and overly handled.
Wine list although short but contained some decent drops, and in my opinion good value. Service was both very friendly and professional. Considering them being the new boys in town, they seem to have gotten it pretty spot on for both food, service and value. Only criticism would be the noise level but that is to be expected in most restaurants. A must to try out.
My partner and I went here on Friday night for dinner, and it was a great atmoshpere. The wait staff were lovely and very attentive, but not too much so. The food was very homely and the flavours were great. The wine list has something for everyone. Dessert was also delicious and the meal sizes are good, not too big and not too small.
Being new to the area we also went there on Sunday morning for breakfast and the food is amazing for this meal. The breakfast menu is your standard cafe breakfast menu but again the size is spot on and the taste and flavours are delicious. The only let down is the coffee for both of us was slightly burnt but it wasn't bad enough to hinder our experience there.
Will definintely be making this one a regular, for all meals.
Pyrama doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. Whilst it doesn't have the Harbour views of nearby neighbours: service, quality of food and value are far superior. We had breakfast and found the menu wasn't run of the mill. Slight twists on what can sometimes become tired favourites, left us with many choices. They have managed a refreshing menu, kept the prices down but still great quality breakfast fair.
For instance, the scrambled eggs are drizzled with white truffle oil that brings out the flavour without overpowering the dish. Look forward to checking out the lunch and dinner menus.
Having read the other reviews, and being locals, we had no excuse but to come for dinner.
The service was great. First up, we were asked if we were off to a show, and what time we would need to leave. Good to see they have done their homework, considering proximity to the theaters. As we were not in a hurry, we were not rushed.
The zuchini flowers stuffed with ricotta were a great start. We had the morrocan style lamb with couscous and the snapper. The lamb was lean without being dry. Fantastic! The brulee was spot on. Will be back for coffee with lunch or breakfast soon. I'm sure the outdoor area would be nice during the day.
Wine list is above average for a restaurant/cafe, range of aussie and overseas, although would like more choice by the glass. Strange BYO option though, $10/bottle ex Fri/Sat.
Went for a dinner recently (it's only ~200m from our apartment), the service and food were excellent. The Duck and Wagyu Steak were great - couldn't fault it. Prices were good value for the quality.
Contrary to another reviewer, the wine list is well thought out and has a few hinden jems that you would rarely see by the glass in Sydney. If you want big names/mass produced wines I would suggest your suburban Asian restaurant.
We recently returned for brunch on Sunday - more casual relaxed atmosphere and once again food was great.
This is a great new find in Pyrmont. The food scene here is just getting better and better. But like Sugaroom and Cafe XXII, I hope it doesn't get too popular - it would be nice to get a table in Pyrmont in a Friday or Saturday night on short notice for once!
We had a lovely meal with a table of 5 seated under a very elegant lamp shade the best seat in the house.. very relaxed but still upmarket dining..definitely return can't wait to try breakfast..
Dinner for two last Saturday night was a pleasant enough evening but nothing of significance. The room is a very nice space which has been well fitted out. Service and staff were good.
The entree of deep fried prawns was pretty good and the mains of duck and lamb were OK without being exceptional. The wine list is not particularly representative and suffers from a fair markup. BYO every night would be OK but, of course, far less profitable.
We thought that the food was generally what might be expected in a middle of the road Sydney (modern Australian) suburban restaurant but that the prices were a little on the high side for a restaurant with no double clothed tables and a small wine list.
The restaurant is trying to compete in a crowded market, and there are probably better examples of this type of experience close by. While we would not say that we would not return, we will probably not be in a hurry if we are after a meal of this standard in Pyrmont.
