This must be one of the most over priced chinese restaurants in Sydney. True, it is located on the harbour and therefore a higher price would be expected but along with that, we would expect a higher quality in the food we are being served. This was not the case. The food was very average and some dishes were simply tasteless. The waiters are hard to catch attention of and the price is simply ridiculous. To be honest, the only thing worth coming for is the Karaoke.
I've been a regular fan of this restaurant. Most romantic Chinese restaurant that I've ever been, choice of quiet and romantic seating on balcony or join the other group of people celebrating all occasions. Ideal for girls night out or office party! It's really nice place.
Went here for a hens night on Saturday and we had the 7 course banquet and, unfortunately, the only thing I can say that was good was the karaoke. The food was terrible, the waiters were extremely rude and often ignored your question or barked a one work response. The drinks were very expensive, $7 for a glass of cheap and nasty champagne with a dead strawberry on the side of the glass.
Basically the food is totally overpriced for what it is. The spring rolls and dim sums tasted like something you would buy at your local fish and chip shop and the other dishes were not much better although I will say the salt and pepper calamari was ok.
The 7 courses consisted of a cold vegetable salad, a spring roll and dim sum each and a chicken, lamb and pork dish and fried rice (we could not really work out what the other dishes were supposed to be and had trouble understanding what the waiters said they were as they would bark out what the dish was then walk straight off).
I would not recommend this place to anyone if you are interested in good service and a nice meal. It really is basically a hens party place.
Came here as part of a group booked for a fixed price menu - so my comments are restricted to that offering. Reasonable but unspectacular Cantonese courses - the usual "standards", but freshly cooked. Good for a group get-together where the quality of food is secondary to the conversation. Alchol slightly pricey, but OK. If you can get a table outside, great, you get a good view of the rest of Darling Harbour.
Female Chinese karaoke singer is operating for most of the night (noted in previous comments) - great for post meal frivolity, but distracting if you are trying to interact with other table members. Would be better if she appeared late in the evening. Maybe best to book a table away from her (at least she can carry a tune, unlike most volunteers dragged from the customer base).
I organised a friend's hen's night at the beginning of the year. It is a fantastic place for a hen's night~ there were around 5 different hen's parties and it starts with a Banquet style meal.
Although the food is not fantastic it's okay for a Caucasian targeted Asian restaurant. And the entertainment includes karaoke, lambada dancing and ends with a mild male dancer show. It just covers everything for the hen's party that want just a mild but fun night out.
We went on a very quiet Tuesday night in winter - so I can't speak for busy nights. The combination chow mein and sweet and sour pork were both fantastic. Probably could have done without the Karaoke chinese female singer though. Of all the restaurants in the harbourside complex there are some of the best views across Darling Harbour looking towards the city.
Good food and reasonable service. I attended a b'day function here and was impressed. Karaoke was great fun too at the end of the night. A little pricey, but thats ok considering the location.
Absolutely shocking food - stale and packed with MSG. One of the waiters spilled food on one of our laps. There was a creepy man wandering around staring at everyone. Not recommended.
