Located in the Rocks on the corner of Argyle Street and Sydney’s oldest cobblestone laneway, Kendall Lane, designer Michael McCann transformed the historic former bond warehouse into a unique dining space. The interior features a dramatic open kitchen with pony hide clad kitchen counter, heritage brick walls and commissioned woven art hangings on a mesh-clad side wall. The restaurant is intimate with chocolate tones and moody timber and features an outdoor deck with a stunning communal dining table and lounge bar.

Even though we had a time mix up with our booking on a very busy night, the staff at Pony were more than accommodating and pleasant and this level of service remained the same throughout the night. The food was great, steak was to die for! Dessert was gorgeous and the wine was a great drop for the price. Only downside is the proximity of the next tables but apart from that a really good dining experience.

Came here on a late Friday night after drinks for dinner, it was highly recommended by a friend and very popular as we could only get in at 10 pm! We ordered a number of smaller entree dishes to graze tapas-style and it was fantastic. Service was brilliant, food was delicious, I was definitely impressed! I thought the place was nicely decked out, lovely ambience and a laid-back vibe. It is a bit of a tight squeeze but it was a nice place to relax, eat and enjoy company. Will definitely be back!

Good cooking in a superb designed space, even if a little tight between and on tables inside. Only issue was that we were 'pushed' inot bread and dips before we even had the menus to see the range of starters available. All in all however well worth a visit.

Went to Pony for dinner on Sat 8th Nov, for my birthday. Decore is ordinary and the tables are too close together. My partner and I felt that we couldn't talk openly as we could hear everything being said on the two tables on either side of us. I was told that I would only get the veal cutlets I ordered cooked medium, until I basically said that I only eat my steak rare. The waiter then said "I'll ask the chef", who said that he could do it for me.
Then when the cutlets arrived, they were still cooked medium. My partner ordered medium and his was rare. When my partner asked the waiter, we were told 15 minutes for the steak to come out again. Needless to say I couldn't be botherd to wait. The veges on my plate weren't cooked. The miniature carrots on my plate were hard through and they were supposed to be steamed.
We ordered sparkling water and it isn't left on the table. The waiters just keep filling your glass up, using as many bottles as it takes without asking if you'd like more. At $7 to $8 a bottle, I think that's a bit much. The price was around $90 for 2 mains, 1 tiny glass of diet coke with about 60% ice, and 2 bottles of water is a bit rich.
Basically highly disappointing. I do not expect to feel like an idiot because I like my steak cooked a certain way. At $37 for just a steak you'd think I'd get to choose the way it's cooked.

Great night. Caught up with old friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed the night. Oysters and beef were perfect, desserts simple and tasty. Funky ambience and it was such a lovely night, we loved sitting outside. Our table wasn't quite ready when we arrived but we were able to have a quick drink at the bar whilst we waited, and were seated very quickly afterward.
The one waitress that looked after us was fantastic! Really friendly and anticipated all of our needs before we even knew about them. Will definitely return soon.

Amazing, loved everything about it, the place has such a buzz to it. The food was great, apparently new menu, try the scallop tortellini it is to die for. The host was cool, kept us entertained even though there was a little wait.

We loved it, amazing decor, food was fabulous and the service was top. Best oysters I have had. Just ate at the sister restaurant, just opened and that was equally as great. Will be back. They have one long table and the only thing I might moan about was that we were sat next to a man who constantly snorted.

Great restaurant with an amazing fit out apparently done by some famous architect. A bit pricey, but a nice overall feeling to the place.

The food and decor were great. The service was a huge let down! We arrived on time and waited 45 minutes at the bar to be seated. We had to ask if we could order and checked up on where our meals were.
We received our first meals at 10:30 - 2 hours after we arrived and yet no one apologized or would even acknowledge we had waited a long time. It's a shame the service was so bad as the food was good. We won't be back.

Lovely dinner with the girls. We arrived early (planned) and had a drink at the bar. Pony is a lovely, intimate and funky eating space. A hidden gem in the Rocks area. Service at all times was friendly, warm and helpful.
We had lots of shared dishes, all were perfectly presented and very fresh. My favourites were the baked eggplant, the prawns, the chicken skewers. Desserts were also outstanding, raspberry cheesecake and a chocolate tart were the ones we shared.
This is my second visit and the standard remains high. I really should try the mains on my next visit. Keep it up guys, you are a key venue in The Rocks.
