Great food in a very authentic atmosphere. This was just like being in rural Thailand. This is no posh restaurant experience but the food is delicious and the service excellent and very friendly. Sadly there were not many diners when I visited, but clearly everyone there was impressed with the food and service. Two guys at one table kept ordering extra dishes because they couldn't believe how good the food was, these guys were regular travellers to Thailand. I will be back with friends.
Finally a place to get decent food on Parramatta Road! I have had nothing but bad experiences on Parra road since moving to Leichhardt, but this was an exception. Ordered the honey chicken & Chinese broccoli with crispy pork and both dishes were tasty. I wouldn't eat there as the place looks a bit run down, but Ploy Thai is a good option for takeaway.
Ploy Thai is truly Sydney's best kept secret. I usually go for the home delivery, Sydney's best comfort-thai is delivered in record speed. From my second order the owner recognised my address each time I called, noting when it had been a long time between orders. Best dishes include Boat Noodle/Duck Noodle soup, drunken noodles chicken, crispy pork with Chinese broccoli, Duck curry and Choo Chee fish. It's all good. And fantastic value, with the soups $8.50 max, and duck and seafood only $13.50.
I rate Ploy Thai as the best value "real' Thai in Sydney. I've been a Ploy fan since its Haymarket days... stumbled in for lunch one rainy day and couldn't believe my luck. The new locale on Parramatta Rd is pretty basic, but you're there for the food.
Must tries are the Duck Soup, Spicy Pork, Omelette, Sator [sour beans with minced prawn/chicken], Nam Tok [beef], Drunk Noodles, Broccoli with crispy pork. They do northern Thai [I-san] as well, with a bit of notice they'll do sticky rice etc. The husband and wife team are warm and hospitable. And if you spend more than $20 pp you're just being greedy.
Excellent Thai food, like Thai home cooking. Love the duck noodle soup and the chicken with chili jam but every dish I have had there is excellent. The people are friendly too.
Recently moved into the neighbourhood, very glad to have tried this place. Not many Thai menus have Northern Thai dishes so good to see there were a few. Especially appreciated 'larb tofu' as not being a big meat eater I usually don't get to have this dish but love it!
Great service. But yes, can can miss it as no signage.
It looks like ordinary take away restaurant on Proad, however, they have excellent thai food and great value. I have tried many thai restaurants in Sydney, but most of them not really spicy. Poly thai has authentic spicy. I really love their food, and happy with such good value restaurant near my place.
Fantastic. A real hidden treasure, this one is hard to spot even when parking out front! Some better street signage wouldn't go astray. Lovely service, authentic food and unbeatable value for money. I'm yet to work my way through the extensive menu, though everything so far has been excellent. Current favourites - Drunk Noodles, Pad Sator, Panang Curry and the Tom Yum Goong is without peer in my opinion.
I absolutely Love this place and it is a hidden gem among the bustle of Parramatta Rd. My boyfriend and I adore the boat noodle soup and the pawpaw salad. The rest of the food is fantastic too. Real authentic Thai food, becoming quite a rarity these days! The service is lovely as well. Highly recommended.
