Food at the Townie used to be great, lots of choice, decent prices, done well. I don't know what's happened but now it's overpriced and underflavoured . Stick to a liquid dinner.

This was my favourite bar bistro until about a year ago - the kitchen staff changed and the portions became smaller, the variety disappeared off the menu, and the food was generally not that great any more. They used to do great steaks, now they're thin and tired and overcooked. The chips and wedges are still okay, but otherwise don't bother.

Food ain't great here. Substandard pub fare that's done better at The Courthouse nearby and at a thousand other pubs in the inner-west. This top level of the Town Hall Hotel is very cool though. Sit by the windows and watch Newtownians in action on the streets below.
