This is the best pizza in Sydney - full stop!! Their calamari to quote a teenage friend of mine "tastes heaps good", and the salads are simple but of fresh, quality produce. My only gripe is the no BYO policy - although the wines are not expensive, the list is very limited (mainly Italian varieties), and unlike the waiter who tried to convince us otherwise, I actually prefer my Aussie wines to Italian wines. It is alfresco dining, so ignore the less than charming service, and let yourself be transported to a little piazza somewhere in Italy. Last word - next best pizza - VESBAR, Crown Street Surry Hills - check it out!

It's a shame when fantastic food is overshadowed by rude, pretentious service and a total lack of atmosphere. The wait staff behaved as though they were doing you a huge favour - if I was running that place, I would be sacking them immediately.

The old Mario's of Stanley Street fame has reinvented itself well in the form of this pizza venue. Although there is no ability to change the toppings on the pizzas - who would want to, they are very tasty! The calamari to start is fresh and very morrish and if you fancy a beer, this is one of the few places in Sydney where you can kick back with a Peroni Gran Reserva (for those beer conissours).

I was in Naples in July this year and fell in love with their pizza's. I was looking forward to trying Pizza Mario as they claim to be authentic. I was very disappointed. I found them to be nothing like the pizza in Naples. The pizza's were crsip and cut into slices. Don't get me wrong the pizza's tasted great but I think a lot of people who come here are looking to recapture the taste of Naples. The restaurant decor could not be more different than you would find in Naples. Good pizza place but I am bemused that they have the OK from Naples. On the other hand the salads were excellent.

The pizza's were delicious!! The calamari was divine. The wine was over priced. & the pizza's may have been too but really the quality and freshness of the ingredients were worth it.

We were a party of 12 and were very well catered for, esp as they don't take bookings! Service was ok, a bit slow but then it was a very busy Thursday night.

The ambience was alright but I guess they were going for a more al fresco feel - which worked. I will most definitely go again and I would recommend it to everyone.

Pizza is my favourite food. So for me to say this is the best Pizza I have ever tried it means a lot. I eat Pizza once a week but I have never tasted pizza like this before. I my self have never been to Italy but I am told this is as close as it gets to Pizza. The service is average and the Price might seem a little high but when you taste the Pizza you will think its worth it.

Nice pizza bases, toppings a bit mean. Salads and entrees are good. Ambiance minimal, wine extortionate price and lousy selection. Staff are right up themselves for a pizza joint.

Oh no - I meant to review this place but I gave the rave review to Pizza Mario in King St, a place I've never been. This pizza at Republic is excellent, the best I've had in Sydney. Better than Haberfield. Try the gelato, it comes fresh from Italy each week.

How can this be a member of the Napoletana Pizza Association? Firstly, the "cafe" was white and sterile looking and no neopolitan theme to warm up the place. We ordered our pizzas and we waited quite a long time, despite pizzas only taking 1 minute to cook!

When we were served, the waiter proceeded to put our big pizzas on the side, with our side plates infront of us, when i told him "you can put the pizzas in front of us" he replied" oh, you dont want to share them?" i replied back "well that's how neopolitans are meant to eat it... whole! And not cut up!"

The pizza itself was crispy throughout (not soft like neopolitan pizza is meant to be) and it was dry, no oil drizzled on top! I guess the pizza is alright in general (they really should warm up the place ambience-wise) but coming from Naples recently and excited to find an association member in Sydney...I was very disappointed.
