The food was nothing special. My steak was actually burnt and my vegetables were also burnt like they had just been put under the grill and not actually cooked. Not really impressed. I had heard good things about the place but wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Our local Italian joint - home-style cooking, hearty serves and efficient service. Recently renovated to increase space and modernise decor. Much improved but still noisy and always busy, although it has a nice family feel. Not for an intimate dinner or high-end menu. Four page menu with all the classics will please everyone. If only parking was easier *sigh*.
Update: Returned to this place with Neecy and her fam on a busy Friday night - first time here since the refurbishment and the place was packed out. I got to say that it has improved on all fronts. The service was both friendly and efficient, the food delicious with excellent value. I had my usual pasta/prawn with just garlic, herbs and oil dressing while Neecy had the lamb rump while others had the sirloin, bug meals.
All of them prepared well and tasty. It really is a pleasure to have good meals served in decent proportions and under $25 each. I hope this place thrives, they deserve it. Well done. The only complaint is the high noise level from patrons; the chatter seems to echo, perhaps, they could hang things on the walls to absorb some it. We'll be back.
Previous Review - December 2007: Overall not a bad choice, perhaps, a little overpriced. They do have trouble attending to everyone's needs quickly on the busy nights but not from lack of trying. I have sampled their pasta's and cannot find fault while Lil Neecy doesn't mind their veal dishes. Recently we dined there with my mate the Jaaaard and his lovely wife Uma and thoroughly enjoyed the prawn pasta dish, no sauces just served in olive oil and garlic with an accompanying Greek salad.)
We've been regulars here for about 3 years. Sometimes weekly. These guys are the masters of running an efficient, quality suburban restaurant. They always get us in. Food snobs don't bother, it's not that kinda place. It's good Italian pasta, great service, good value. A great local option.
I was a little worried when they expanded but despite the fact it's a bit loud (it always was!), it's still great. I can't go past the Marinara. Literally. It's all I have these days I look forward to it so much. Wine list is reasonable as well.
Dined here last week with friends, we didn't have a booking but were accommodated really easily. Service was friendly & food was delivered quickly - entrees & mains were really delicious, it was really nice to enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace with a bottle of wine without being rushed out. We will definitely be back.
A local favourite of mine. Top notch, friendly service and great food too. The rib steak is the highlight. The renovations are now complete, which must at least double the number of tables. It will be interesting to see how it goes but I have a good feeling that they will pull it off and improve on what was already a great local restaurant.
This is very average food and has the worst service I have experienced in a long time. If you have $60 to spend on dinner I recommend that you go somewhere else!
Went on Mother's Day in the newly renovated section of the restaurant. The food was standard mediocre Italian food made in a rush. I suppose better food outcomes can't be achieved in a restaurant this size. New section of the restaurant with wooden floor boards was much too noisy and very uncomfortable, couldn't hold a decent conversation. Wait staff were friendly and service of the food was OK. All meals were extremely pricey for what you get. Nothing spectacular. Won't be rushing back.
We have been going to Pinnochio's for years now. It changed hands a few years ago and we were pleased to note that they did not let things slip. It helps that it went from one family to another and is run as a family owned business. Staff are welcoming and helpful, food is great value and good quality, it is like sitting in a family kitchen at the holidays - lots of noise, laughter and cheer.
Prams are a problem because of the configuration but our children are now into seats and we are back as regulars. You do not go here for fine dining - you go here for a great night with great friends and family for a good feed at reasonable prices. Keep up the great work Pinnochio's. PS. Rissotto was great last night!!
