For $15 dollars all you can eat isn’t too bad. Choices are very limited but Hey you get full, and there’s a large range of buffet style desserts in the middle of the restaurant. The chicken feet is actually pretty tasty, compared to a few other places which I have been to, I would go back again - comparing to a lot of other places which aren’t all you can eat.
Compared to other Yum Cha restaurants in Sydney, Phuoc Loc Tho would definitely be on the low-end rank of the ladder. My family and I dined here recently, and it will definitely be the last time we ever go again. Value is pretty good at $14.80 an adult (all you can eat yum cha), but considering that there was a limit to the amount of yum cha food that was available, the value is questionable.
I found the service really awkward as the waitress would come around to every table asking what yum cha foods you wanted them to serve. Unless you know your yum cha foods, then this is not a very effective service. This is very different from the traditional service where waiters/waitresses would push trolleys of food around the restaurant for viewing and serving.
Most of our dishes were served warm and this is by far a really disappointing restaurant overall.
A group of us went here for my work farewell, this was the first time most of us had been been to a Vietmanese restaurant and tried Vietnamese food. We loved it!
The food was fantastic!, although, I absolutely HATE coriander and coriander happens to be in just about every dish!! So if like me, you are not a coriander fan make sure you ask them to leave it out.
We ordered the May banquet special (number 2). Everyone agreed that the BBQ beef and chilli mud crab were the best dishes, an absolute must! but don't forget the salt and pepper prawns!!!!
Enjoying it sooo much, I took a friend there for dinner about a week later and ordered the favorite dishes. My friend loved it!, her favorite was the beef BBQ.
We will be back to Phuoc Toc Loc soon to enjoy the delicious cuisine and come back again and again!
We love the food here, but the service can be down right horrible. Wouldn't recommend coming here on 'Special Days' like Mother's Day, Father's Day etc.. as they are grossly understaffed leaving many unhappy customers. Such a shame because the man that runs the place is extremely pleasant and friendly.
We do love the food though, haven't tried Yum Cha here but the dinner menu is great. Pretty authentic!
PLT isn't the greatest place to have yum cha. I think the servings are way too small compared to other places and they use too much msg. Their dumplings and har kow tasted frozen, you can purchase from Asian grocery markets.
Definitely a different (and yummy of course) place. In the morning/afternoon, they offer Vietnamese yum cha and it's a very unique experience. Beautiful food that's well innovated. They're just starting the new Vietnamese yum cha concept so they still lack variety but I've been told that PLT plan to change this very soon as they're now experimenting with customer demands.
Something you must have when you come here is the beef wrapped in betel leaves - it's Phuoc Loc Tho speciality. Delicious and very affordable! The crab dishes here are excellent too, although that can be regarded as a Chinese influence to the generally Vietnamese menu. Give it a try. It's a nice, welcoming and clean cut place with great Vietnamese cuisine.
