Pho Sam a cheerful little place often packed full with asian students and other locals. During lunch and dinner there is usually a short wait for a table, but people generally eat fast and you get seated quickly.
The crispy skin chicken with tomato (red) rice is one of the best I've had. They've perfected their chicken so that the skin is perfectly cripsy whilst the meat is tender and succulent. The tomato rice too, has a great flavour and lots of small fried bits of egg in it.
I've tried the pho and other noodle/rice dishes and its all above average but nothing spectacular like their chicken. Also I think they sometimes discriminate with their serving sizes. When I'm sharing food with the family they give you a mountain of rice, but I see girls/couples get much smaller portions. Not sure if it was a coincidence though!
1000 times better than others down the road, actual chinese food can be found here!! Be warned: if you want vietnamese spring rolls (rice paper rolls) order them from the 'Vietnamese food' section, not from the entrees section which are the spring rolls of the deep- fried kind.
Good for a quick meal. Noodles are not bad, crispy chicken is pretty good. Vegetable dishes are expensive and not value for money though! That said, I'll always return for a quick bowl of noodles. It’s hard to find a similar restaurant around that area.
This place is good value for money. Vietnamese food is OK but not great since the kitchen staff definitely influence too much Chinese style and in a wrong way! This is probably the only place that offer Pho with egg noodles instead of the traditional rice noodles! Some may like the alternative but to the purists, it's horrible .
