Having walked past this place I don’t know how many times, I finally tried it out. I said hi as I walked in and the friendly lady behind the counter said hello. She mentioned that she hadn’t seen me for such a long time. I nodded my head with a smile realising that she was on autopilot: I’d never been to her pho shop before.

Anyway, the pho (I ordered the one with tendons and intestines which is one of my favourite styles) turned out to be expensive at $11.50. The amount of meat, noodles, sprouts and mint was also alarmingly small to the point where later on that evening I had to eat another meal because I was still hungry. A tiny bowl of complimentary Vietnamese dessert was a nice touch but I'm not into Asian desserts neither was it what I went there for.

I thanked the lady and paid up, whilst she proceeded to diss on "the other pho place in Burwood” not being authentically Vietnamese (which incidentally is true, Anh Dao is Chinese not Vietnamese).

In summary, I went for the pho which was supposed to be number 1 (as the name suggests) and discovered that it was not number 1. It wasn't even close.

Can't complain too much. For $10 you can get fed decently. Their combination rice is very flavoursome and comes with nice chicken soup. I wish they served broken rice though. Service is quick and friendly. Decore is just what you'd expect.

I'm a local and come here at least once a week for my weekly craving for pho,salt/pepper quail, vietnamese spring rolls etc. Authentic vietnamese food! Excellent pho, service. Have brought friends here and they all love the quality, service and value. The lady owner's lovely - always smiling. Where else in Sydney would you get complimentary dessert.

My friend took me here for lunch, and I love asian food and this is my new favourite place, we had the fried rice with prawn and chic and crispy skin chic and pork chops, omg the chops came with this sauce and it melted in my mouth, the service was great, the lady owner was so kind and polite, I'm taking my parents there and I always go there now 10/10.

One main course of pho served first though we ordered bun xeo pancake as the entree. Bun Xeo too oily to eat and we left half of it behind. Main course of bun cha with spring rolls came about 20 minutes after the other main course. Dinner disjointed. Only bright spot was the nice free touch of a hot soup dessert at the end.

Simple, authentic food that is served quickly and tastes great. The decor leaves a lot to be desired but its the food you go for. As far as that goes, its great!

My partner and I always have dinner here when we're in burwood. The pork chops and beef pho are always consistently good. The last few times though, they seemed to have employed younger wait staff who need to pay more attention when taking orders. However, the lady who always greets us and recognises us is as lovely and sweet as ever. I hope she's there everytime we come in to eat here.

    *2009 Update*
Word of warning. the food served is highly inconsistent and the dishes become extremely small. Out of last 4 visits of recent times, only once kept up to standard. I'm either served with so little noodles or so little filling.

e.g In the clear noodle soup, there was only 1 prawn and no celery like how it usually does. The amount of noodles is half the size as what it was. Unless they serve consistent dishes (exception is special customer request) and larger serving, I don't want to waste my money here and leave feeling hungry and ripped off.

I was impressed by both the dishes that we ordered. Grilled pork was superb with the vermicelli and the combination clear noodle soup was the best! The prawns tasted fresh, there were fish fillet pieces and plenty of lean pork. Highly recommended dish.

We were warmly surprised by the waitress' bright smile and bringing us complimentary dessert of some sort of coconut sago with banana. It was a nice touch, although the previous time we were here, so don't know if its consistent or not. Great value with huge dishes served.

I always get the Pho here, it is of a very high standard. The broth is the main drawcard in this dish and this version does not disappoint. Only criticism is little more meat would be nice. Nice touch though is sometimes you get a little dessert at the end.
