I live nearby and always thought it would be good to try this place as I love pho. Dropped in for dinner and ordered pho and a chicken laksa. The pho was ok but just average, much better at the other authentic viet restaurants in parra. The laksa though was terrible. Seemed like they just added spoonfuls of sambal paste to coconut milk, all spice but no flavour.
The table next to us had also ordered a laksa and when they noticed we had it, the guy leant across and said that he never complains about food but it was the worst laksa he's had. I've had worse (attempted home cooking) but we got his point. We complained to the waiter and asked if we could get another dish but he promised the chef could fix it (after going back and forth a few times). It came back as just coconut milk with no chilli. Inedible.
The staff were not overly helpful nor concerned, despite only having a mouthful of the laksa they insisted we pay for the whole thing. Will not eat there again.
My friend and I have been frequenting this restaurant on almost a weekly basis over the last 6 months or so and up until recently have been really happy with the great food and speedy service. The ambience is average but fine for a quick meal, however, larger tables would make eating much easier!
However, over the past month or so we have noticed some new staff, not as attentive. Not long ago our unopened drink was spilt which we were made to pay for, and were not offered another one. Further, our last few visits have seen a definite decrease in portion sizes, which has been disappointing for an otherwise consistent and enjoyable experience.
Great little restaurant, one of my favourite Vietnamese places. Simple food, but so tasty! Great value too, a simple beef pho that'll keep you full for hours is less than $10. If you're not in the mood for fancy and just want some simple Chinese/ Vietnamese food that's great value, this is the perfect place, you simply just can't go wrong here.
Come here quite often as it is close to my work. Restaurant not owned by Vietnamese but they make ok Vietnamese food. Love their spicy pork and beef soup noodle. Also like their tomato rice combo dish with the pork chop, egg cake and flossy thing. If you are eating in ask for some msg broth to go with your rice dishes. Waitresses don't speak fluent English but highly attentive to taking orders and clearing dishes.
This place also makes nice ice ka chang ($4.50 but worth it, especially in summer), it's like crushed ice with some beans and green jelly with evaporated milk. Once I was in here and the lady owner had a family get together in the restaurant, that was weird, felt like I was in their house. In terms of decor, the tables are very small and squashed. Trying to get to the more comfy inside seat is a tight squeeze.
The other thing is they only supply one set of condiments by the door uncovered. So it's slightly inconvenient and unhygienic. Don't use it is my solution when frequenting this place.
Having grown up in the western suburb of Sydney, this is the place my friends hold our catch-ups after going to different universities after high school. This place is seriously good: their vermicelli noodles with pork sticks is so tasty and refreshing, their spring rolls when placed with herbs in a lettuce leaf and dunked in the pungent sauce is yum-o, and who can go past their laksa (it is the best laksa I've tasted ever, no doubt about it)?
Now married, my husband and I are devotees of this place. Whenever we happen to be in Parramatta, my husband will invariable want to visit this place. Granted, the tables might not look posh and the restaurant doesn't have mood lighting. But who care? If you want extra tasty, healthy and refreshing food, you can't go past this place.
Not what I expected, the food isn't as great authentic as it seems. There are plenty of other good Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Had a Pho Soup and it was very bland, no texture and flavour to the soup. Staff were not friendly at all. Will never come back here again!
