This place has tourist trap written all over it. Only 2 red wines by the glass, neither had the vineyard or region noted. Only 2 beers on tap. Limited and overpriced cook your own meat or carvery options. Salad bar was very ordinary. Service was "I'm only working here till something better comes along" all of which made for a cool atmosphere.

I've always walk past this place in The Rocks and the front looks like its a small pub, I had no idea there was anything at the back. Shows how much you think you know about Sydney!

An interesting place where you cook your own meat on a communal bbq. If my friend didn't show me what to do I wouldn't have an idea what was going on!

You first buy your meat or fish, there are bbq where you cook yourself. There are plenty of sides there to choose from. The price though doesn't justify what you get.

For what you get, you expect someone to be cooking for you. There are many choices for sauces but aren't labelled, me and my friend got this mustard sauce which was a killer, it was so hot the inside of my mouth exploded!

Imagine wasabi 10 times hotter and the feeling lasting 10 seconds, it was not good! It was so hot I had to spit out what I had in my mouth. My poor friend had already smeared it all over his and it was unedible. Didn't see any labels and learnt the hard way.

Plenty of side dishes to choose from. Ambience wise that was hard to tell for me because it was pouring hard with rain but the seating is not cramped and its all outdoor seating. Nil issues with service.

I don't know how my friend knew about this place but it was an interesting experience.

Unfortunately, while cooking our meal we witnessed (more than one) cockroaches running across the stainless steel in front of the grill. On further inspection they were running up the wall and in behind the stainless steel that runs up the wall. Disgusting..!

Food was below average. Had Fillet mignon $31. Besides the salads. Only Veg available was roasted potatoes. Fresh bread was nice treat.! Terrible experience..!

Love this place! Been ages since I last visited but will be going back more often. Such a relaxed atmosphere and great food! Our whole group did the bbq and everyone thought it was fantastic. Thanks for a memorable night!

Good steaks, good selection of salads, plenty to eat, the atmosphere is relaxing and the staff friendly. The doorman was very helpful last Saturday 8/01/11, will be back for sure.

Typical cook your own steak type affair. Quaint old building with atmosphere, limited beers on tap though and wine list ordinary. Steaks are good and worth a visit.

I recently ate at the Phillips Foote after not dining there for several weeks. Their salad bar has been completely redone and the new salads are delicious! Will be going back soon!

Great courtyard atmosphere, large selection of beef steaks, lamb cutlets, kebabs, chicken breast, marinated rump. We had a rump steak and a kebab and both were delicious, which we cooked on the BBQ. If you don't want to cook there is a selection of beef roast, beef pie, and also roast vegetables. The salad bar was standard but I wouldn't pay $20 for it.

The food was great but they canceled my booking to accommodate for a group of tourists. My booking was made a couple of weeks in advance. The waitress wrote it down in the book and said its all good. Comes the day they said I didn't make any bookings. Showed me the book and nope my name was really not there, so what happened? Disappointed with their service.
