We just went unplanned towards Cremorne area for a night out for dinner and I left this place so disappointed. I didn't want any of the mains on the menu so ordered a couple of the starters which were quite expensive for they were. My husband got the pork belly for main and it was a very fatty piece with little actual edible meat on it, that had been microwaved, just disgusting! There are much better places in the area with better value too.

We had the big breakfast and eggs florentine. Eggs florentine barely had any flavour and the sauce was split yet it was still served. The turkish bread was also soggy. Big breakfast toast was burnt on edges and only one small piece. Dish also lacked flavour and had too much oil. Service was slow even though the place wasn't busy. I recommend the cafe next door!

The seafood platter was very poor, overpriced for what was offered. Crumbed fish appeared to be from a packet, chips were cold and not sufficient for two people. First and last time we will visit this restaurant.

Went there for the first (and last) time today for breakfast. Where to start...?

The tables look like they were sourced at a local garage sale. The awnings were filthy and full of cobwebs. Our table had a single quarter filled salt shaker on it that was clogged with moisture.

The food was horrendous. My "full breakfast" wouldn't have fed a bird. I asked the waiter to replace the sour dough bread with "regular toast" and they served me just a piece of bread! Sourdough not toasted. Just Bread!? The waiter offered me steamed vegetables as a side when asking for baked beans with my breakfast. Steamed vegetables with breakfast!? The coffee and tea was cold. They had no raw sugar and looked at me like I was an idiot when asking, and the fruit toast was cold and looked as if a rat had been chewing on it.

The waitress was rude and made us feel (as customers) like an inconvenience. Never going back! Oh, and by the way, the breakfast was disappointing. My sausage (one sausage mind you) tasted like it was about a month old.

Very disappointed. My friend ordered bread to start (2 small slices) and Main course of Salmon. I chose off the "Specials menu". John Dory: It was "swimming" in oil, and only came with several snow peas and a smidge of broccoli, all which were very overdone.

As I was very hungry, I ordered a dessert of Rhubarb and Berry crumble with ice cream: No crumble in sight. It appeared that the dish had been overheated in the microwave as the contents had all blended together. Ice cream had already melted a lot, when given to me.

The cost of our meal was very high for what was offered. I will not return.

Peppercorn is a North Shore staple and has been there for years. We have been several times with varying degrees of success. It's become something of a regular family spot for lunch or dinner but, to be honest, that's mainly because of the ambience and the outdoor seating rather than amazing food.

The staff are lovely but not great waiters, it's almost like they had just wandered past and seem to be surprised to find themselves waiting tables. The meals are often incorrect or there are courses missing completely, to the surprise of the waiters who will grin at you apologetically when you point it out.

The food is pretty average. The steak is usually not bad and, having tried a few things on the menu, what I would recommend as a safe bet. There are tapas plates available which have improved over time but again are not amazing. But the great thing about Peppercorn is that you can sit outside, watching people wander around in the plaza. We keep going back for that reason, and just remind ourselves that we are not in a hurry and that sometimes it can be interesting to try something that you would never order off the menu!

Nothing exciting at all about the seafood platter coupon deal, oysters were stale (probably been in the fridge for some time), calamari rings were cold, scallops were not fresh! Service was quite attentive and efficient but I doubt that we will go back again! I will be more selective about my coupon purchases.

What an abysmal experience our party of four had on Saturday night at Peppercorn. After we were seated it was 15 minutes before anyone brought over menus. Another fifteen minutes after our orders were taken, a waitress came over to tell us that they were out of the fresh tuna that one of our party had ordered. We asked for bread, outrageously priced at $3.50 for two slices of sourdough that were stale.

We had brought a bottle of wine. The waiter spilled a large amount while pouring my husband's glass and did not bother to apologise. An hour after ordering, we asked when our food might arrive and it came soon thereafter. The lamb which had been ordered medium rare was well done. The lamb which had been ordered rare was well done. It was too late in the evening to send it back and risk waiting another hour for replacements so we gnawed our way through it and left as soon as we could. We will never return!

We enjoyed ourselves here and while it was very noisy (lots of people) the food was very good and the service excellent.

Returned again and had a great night out, food and service was all great and good value for money. We will be back again..Oh and it really was not that noisy this time so perhaps when we went last time there were just a few very rowdy tables.

The partner and I had a decent dinner here the other night. Came with a voucher for 2 entrees and 2 mains plus a bottle of house wine. It was a pleasant surprise when they told us the we can choose off the specials menu as well. We had the seared scallops with ginger and shallot and a seafood chowder for entree. The scallops were nicely seared and tasted nice with the small bed of spinach at the bottom of the nicely seared scallop. The seafood chowder tasted good but I would have preferred it to be less diluted.

For the mains we had seafood risotto and a grilled john dory and prawns. The risotto tasted nice with sufficient seafood taste in a light tomato base albeit being a little overcooked. I much prefer my risotto al dente. The grilled john dory was simple and taste fine with us. Nothing to shout about.

Service was good. The waiter was nice, friendly and helpful. Can't say that the ambience was great but it was alright.
