Been here a couple of times but not a regular customer. Decor is cute and menu is easy to understand. Waitresses and Waitors understand english enough to help you out with any questions unlike other places such as Menya at Townhall.
My partner usually orders the beef pepper rice and I usually order the kimchi beef rice. I really should give the others a try. Food comes in a decent timeframe, however, is expensive for what it is, especially when you are cooking if for yourself too. Portions are decent, however, I feel there are not enough ingredients in comparison to the amount of rice they give you.
Food tastes good, but would not make Pepper Lunch a frequent place to eat in the City.
Very cute place and cute way to present and cook the food, but it took forever to bring my plate out, and the food is very good, just not very japanese.
Awesome novelty idea and it works! Similar to the old StoneGrill concept, but at a much affordable price.
For lunch, I usually get the Pepper Beef rice (Large) and drink. Add $2 for a salad, which is surprisingly very tasty (probably 1000 island sauce). For dinner, I'd go for the more dearer beef dishes, as they're very tender, almost wagyu texture. Still it costs only under 20 for a set.
You'll definitely smell of smoked beef, so make sure you sit in the ventilated open area if you want to avoid this. Don't forget to get your loyalty card stamp for a free meal after 10 visits. Highly recommended.
This place is so cute! Love the idea of cooking your own food on a hot pot. The staff are very efficient and the food comes out pretty quickly. Can't say much for the ambience but it's great for a casual lunch/dinner. The food is really good, definitely recommend anything on the menu, especially the kimchee rice. The value is also great for a restaurant in the CBD.
Interesting, you basically cook the food on the hot plate (so beware, it sizzles and you'll likely end up smelling like your meal). I always get the salmon which is delicious with the sauces on the table (perfect so you can add as much or little as you like. Fast efficient service and good atmosphere.
Came here with a couple of friends. Its great to be able to cook the food on the sizzling plate, so the food comes out very quickly. Certainly an interesting experience.
I decided to come here last weekend because my friends won't in the mood for fancy restaurants or fast food. The prices are average for the CBD area, but beware as the servings are quite small. The beef was also a little tough, but that just might be a personal preference. That aside, the staff was generally very polite and the food was made promptly, so it's a good place to visit if you're in a rush.
Overall a good experience, will visit again.
The food is great here, especially before or after a movie! It's a no-brainer to come here over other fast food places like McDonalds or Subway if you're looking for a decent feed.
