After a recent trip to paris, some friends took us to Le Pelican. What an experience! So cool to enter a french bistro who's got that parisian feel right here in Sydney. Great produces, creative, and tasty. Wine list superb, and a very good service. Thanks again be back very soon.

Well... being French and living in Australia usually makes me judge the French restaurants a bit "harshly". I make one exception: Le Pelican. The small, warm and cosy restaurant is a proud ambassador of French cuisine. The dishes are delicious, creative, very well presented.
The service is lovely, welcoming and family like. It is not too fussy but the standard is high. The ingredient truly French, very fresh and well selected. I have been there 3 times and will go back regularly. I have tried the "garden" which was lovely in summer, the front room which is small and cosy, the middle room with a group of people, very nice too. In 4 words: I love Le Pelican. Thank you for your efforts and creativity!

A reasonable standard French restaurant that I am unlikely to return to.
The food was average although pleasantly not heavy for a French restaurant.
The decor was pleasant.

I was looking forward to coming here to try the Duck l'orange and other good looking mains on the menu. I enjoyed the French red wine to accompany the duck. The duck breast with skin was cooked to perfection, although it wasn't a standout. I thought my partner's Rangers Valley onglet, watercress, swiss chard compote and snail carbonade was much more special and flavoursome.
The entree of oysters and the black truffle with poached egg and lentils from the specials board were both good but not outstanding. The desserts looked mouthwatering and the taste didn't disappoint. I enjoyed the chocolate fondant and the pear souffle my partner had was even better!
Service was fantastic by one of the senior staff and the male staff but there was one expressionless senior waitress who didn't make you feel welcoming.
Overall, enjoyable evening.

After reading the great reviews and craving duck l'orange, I came here for an early Saturday night dinner. It's a small restaurant with two small rooms and a courtyard in the back that would be nice to sit during summer. Luckily we made a booking as many were turned away.
Service was friendly and we were not rushed at all which was great since most restaurants have 2 seating on Saturdays. We skipped the entrees and went for the duck done two ways which was a modern take on the typical duck l'orange with a tender piece of duck breast and duck mince in pastry which was like a sausage roll. Very flavorsome and different. We ended the night with chocolate fondant that was a sweet ending to our meals. I would come back to try other dishes on the menu.

We've been visiting Le Pelican for years, and it still remains an absolute pleasure to dine there.
The food is wonderful! The menu changes according to the seasons, and the ingredients used are always fresh and excellent quality. The dishes are creatively presented and each dish is like a little work of art. If it's on the menu then I would certainly recommend the Smoked Flathead Pie.
The service is great, and the staff are all French. They're knowledgeable on the dishes and the wine, and they're always friendly and welcoming.
Dining at Le Pelican is always a treat!

We come here often and have never been disappointed. Our old time favourites are the house smoked flathead pie, Onglet Steak and the Pate Maison. The Chocolate fondant and the Souffle are the must try desserts (at least once). We have not tried any other desserts on the menu as these are just too good to resist.
There is quite a range of French wines to try by the glass. Gilles the French waiter is very competent and always happy to recommend a compatible wine to your taste. I’d highly recommend the Chenin Blanc from Loire Valley if you are a Sav Blanc person.

I loved the food and thought they had made a great effort on presentation. The desserts were to die for! Only problem: the service, especially the way we have been welcomed by the senior staff who didn't smile at all and should just find another job as it is obvious that she doesn't like serving people. Lucky we then were served by a lovely french guy who was very profesional. Will definitely go back cos the food is just like in France.

Haven't even walked through the door and already not impressed by their service. I have no idea what their food is actually like.
Tried to book a table for 9 people, so called them a few nights before we wanted to go. Was told that we would need to choose a reduced menu as there were so many of us, so they said that we had to pick 3 options for each course (there are only 5 options anyway!). It was explained that because there were so many of us, they would be left with a lot of food if we were to cancel. In any case agreed to a reduced menu, and that they would email.
Then the person on the phone could not seem to understand the difference between "Friday" and "Saturday", this needed to be repeated a few times to get through which night we wanted the booking for.
Finally, got off the phone, perhaps, with a booking for the table. Received the email, turns out that they chose the 3 options, rather than giving us the choice. If we wanted to order anything else from the a la carte menu, then we needed to order it well before the night and we needed to leave credit card details.
Needless to say, we cancelled the booking. Wasn't worth it.
