I have been to this restaurant a few times over the years, but it had been many years since my last visit. (I must admit) We paid 40 bucks each, and there was not enough food. The place was that crammed full of people I am sure this is against local council regulations! And the service was quite poor!
This place may have been good 10 yrs ago, but having been to other lebanese restarants in Sydney, Pasha's just does not compare with what Sydney has on offer anymore. I will not be returning ever again!
Been here last night and at first loved the nice cosy atmosphere. We ordered the banquet which offered a choice of paying 5 bucks more per person for two tiny "spring-roll"-y things with a vegetarian filling but otherwise was the same as the cheaper banquet. Food was nice though standard Turkish staff, nothing surprising.
At this point, the waiter was also still friendly, even though clearly just out of waitering primary school. We had an Entertainment book voucher offering a discount of 25% but when the bill arrived, they wanted to overcharge us by about 5 bucks. When I asked the waiter in a friendly manner to correct this oversight, his friendly attitude was gone in a flash and he tried to convince us that we were the one in error rather than apologising.
After lengthy conversations and him talking to his boss in the back several times and trying to come up with a rather stupid excuse as to why they deduct less than clearly indicated on our voucher, we finally got some cash back for the mistake which our waiter banged on the table. During this whole time, the management gave us dirty looks and the waiter did not even say goodbye to us as if we were the criminals here making us feel extremely uncomfortable.
Beware, this place tries to rip off their customers for just a few dollars so you can image what attitude to customer service in general they will have. Apart from that, food generally was overpriced for what you get and they don't accept Amex cards which is ridiculous considering that our bill was almost 100 dollars for two people.
I don't understand the low rating! I was blown away by the food, I thought I'd had good Turkish before but this was sublime, absolutely to-die-for. The dips were exceptional, the lamb kebab smoky and moreish, and the homemade baklava, well I had three pieces it was so good, delicate, obviously very fresh, and perfectly spiced.
I have never given a 10 for food before but Pasha's deserves it! We were with a very large (and difficult) group, but the wait staff were friendly, accommodating and helpful. After sharing some dips, a lamb main and dessert I was stuffed and only $25 out of pocket. Highly recommended!
Loved the experience - Enjoyed the food emesly and the entertainment is always amusing - as well as value for money - never been able to finish an entire meal there, it's great.
My husband and I ate here before a night at the Enmore. We had the $35 banquet, and it really was enough food for 3-4 people. There were 5 dips with bread, plus 2 vegetable entrees. Mains was 2 salads, 3 types of meat and rice. This was followed by a choice of tea or coffee, and piece each of baklava (wasn't very nice) and turkish delight. The flavours in all the dishes were divine. Delicious. We love turkish food!
Fantastic value, service was good and unobtrusive. We were sat immediately inside the door which was good to be able to watch all the people passing by. There were two large groups on the same night, and they looked like regulars.
We used our Entertainment voucher, so the entire experience came out at just over $50 for two, which is great value. We were really happy, and would gladly return.
Having been here for the first time we were somewhat disappointed in the seating arrangements. Being 2 tall people we were sat on the "stools" and tables in the lower side of the restaurant. Our knees were about around our neck when trying to eat the food. We asked 2 different wait staff it we could be seated at a normal table to which we were told "I'll check" and they never came back to us. So we suffered in silence through our meal.
The food was fantastic!! Absolutely brilliant tastes, couldn't have asked for anything better. All served promptly and fresh.
Disappointed in "someone" trying to sell CD's and books to us whilst we were trying to enjoy our meal. She was free to wander the restaurant and sell her wares.
Also the staff seemed somewhat vague and disinterested when asked simple questions such as "can we move tables"; or "can we pay the bill". We were responded with a blank stare. Very strange.
Whilst the food was fantastic; the seating was uncomfortable and it seemed the staff weren't too interested in trying to accommodate our request to move to a "normal" table. Perhaps when a booking is made we are advised of the seating or asked a seating preference. If you're not a tall person the seating is fine. Good value for money - not over priced at all.
My husband and I had our first date at this restaurant 22 years ago and just went back for our Anniversary for the first time. I have read the bad reviews and heartily disagree. My husband is somewhat of an expert in good turkish cuisine and we found the $35.00 banquet too much for 2 people, extremely flavoursome, in fact to die for, and the service and the belly dancer were awesome. We have vowed to go back at least monthly. Fabulous night out and unusually exceptional food.
Went there January 3rd for a small birthday bash, had the $35.00 banquet. All very enjoyable, great food, great service, great fun for all. Highly recommended, makes a great night out.
Do not eat here! For what you get it is highly overpriced. After 6 years living in the area I tried this place and took my parents. How embarrassing, after all that Newtown has to offer. Everything we ordered tasted totally ordinary, service was just nothing. Stay away. Better, cheaper, similar style of food can be found on Enmore Rd..
I was sceptical about going after reading the reviews but it was a friend's choice and it was a birthday so had to go. I was very pleasantly surprised. Maybe the owners read the reviews too and decided to pick up their act but I found it to be absolutely great.
The service was fantastic, the waiters polite and attentive, we had 2 male waiters and one female waiter and they were young, energetic and efficient. There were about 20 in our group and we had the $35 banquet. The entrees and dips were fresh and plentiful and when we asked for a 'little' more bread, we got a lot more bread and within a couple of minutes. The entrees and dips were so plentiful that we probably could have skipped the mains. But when they came out, the meats, vegetables and rice were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection.
We had coffee and desserts of baclava and turkish delight which were delicious. The belly dancer was superb one of the best I have ever seen, great atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.
