I was sceptical about going after reading the reviews but it was a friend's choice and it was a birthday so had to go. I was very pleasantly surprised. Maybe the owners read the reviews too and decided to pick up their act but I found it to be absolutely great.
The service was fantastic, the waiters polite and attentive, we had 2 male waiters and one female waiter and they were young, energetic and efficient. There were about 20 in our group and we had the $35 banquet. The entrees and dips were fresh and plentiful and when we asked for a 'little' more bread, we got a lot more bread and within a couple of minutes. The entrees and dips were so plentiful that we probably could have skipped the mains. But when they came out, the meats, vegetables and rice were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection.
We had coffee and desserts of baclava and turkish delight which were delicious. The belly dancer was superb one of the best I have ever seen, great atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.
"We are so convinced that you will love our food, We actually guarantee it! If you do not enjoy your meal It’s simple, you don’t pay!" - this is a direct quote from Pasha's own website... Only we could not believe the screaming match we got from the management when we expressed our dissatisfaction with our dining experience!!
We ordered a banquet for 5 + one vego dish. The dips came out quickly and were adequate. We waited over an hour for the mains, and the vego dish still hadn't arrived after an hour and a half despite us asking each of the 5 different wait staff where it was. Each time we were met with a blank stare. The meats in the mains were dry and cold, and we didn't even get the salads promised. We waited another hour for the desserts, but gave up and cut our losses. We will never go there again.
The waitress can't speak english and also she doesn't have any idea about the food
and also very expensive, plus we waited more than 1 hour. I never ever go there again.
As the past reviews have said, this place does look inviting from the outisde but once you're in...you only wish you could leave. The staff was a strange man, pretty much ignored us and was rude when he had to answer a question. He looked like he was more focused on the belly dancer than the customers.
In regards to the food, I got a plate with a piece of meat, a bit of rice and salad. I could have seriously whipped that up at home, hung a few rugs on the wall and hey..... a Turkish cuisine awaits!!! Never going back!!!
Simply appalling, I don't quite know where to start. We arrived at around 7 pm on a cold and wet Sydney night, the restaurant looked warm and inviting. We walked in and were promptly seated at a table at the window. We ordered a dip plate, two mains an orange salad, baklava and coffee.
The dips were great, the main (only one turned up) was stodgy and lukewarm, the salad was just odd and full of orange seeds the baklava was the size of two ten cent pieces and they charged us $9 for it, we equated that to about $400 a kilo. The only saving grace with this joint were the nice rugs up on the wall.
Food was great. Lots of selection and quantity. The restaurant itself is very nice. If you plan on staying for awhile, I recommend passing on the cushions on the floor and taking the chair and tables. We had the sleaziest waiter, who couldn't stop hitting on one of our friends. Would go back if he wasn't there. Creepy dude.
The website reads 'Pasha's Restaurant: Exceptional Turkish Cuisine'! 'Appalling Turkish Cuisine' is closer to the mark. I ordered the charcoal marinated lamb, what I got was lamb chops, frozen vegies and rice!! No marinade, no spices with a $25 price tag thrown in!!
The waiter looked as interested as the frozen vegies! It might look the real deal - but a new kitchen staff, fresh ingredients and some 'proper' Turkish food is drastically needed.
I cannot believe all these negative reviews. I went to Pashas last night in Newtown with some friends, three of us vegos. We had a terrific time, the food was great and everyone enjoyed themselves. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone
I just live 5 minutes from this place, me and my girlfriend always walk past this restaurant thinking what a lovely decor it has, so we went on a friday night we had the banquet meal for $35 dollars, wasn't expecting much, when they brang the entrees the table was completely full which made me quite happy after entrees we had a mix grill which was wonderful, for dessert we had baklava and turkish coffee. I was pretty impressed.
