We used a voucher that was for 2 dinners, buns and drinks. Service was a bit zombie like and going through the motions. Our mains were mostly from cans and bit such as the advertised tomatoes were missing! Not sure why. No ambience, really small, dirty tables. Would never go back Ever.

We visited this shop first time last Saturday by using a coupon. The shop is small but we are not fussy of that. Food is below average, only the signature buns and malaysian milky black tea were good. Our breakfasts were bad, made by canned stuff. My Little Italian dish was full of tomato sauce mixed with mayonnaise, beef and chicken slices were definitely blank flavour and from supermarket while mushrooms from can, I couldn’t finish it.

But the staff service was the worst and made me to write this comment. The first staff we met who looked like senior staff assistance (represented for senior staff on weekend) was rude. She came to clean a table with a smile when we stepped in but after we said of using coupon her face got cold and left with a sentence "please take a seat" then never coming back. We sat for more than 5 minutes without any service and a totally empty table.

When came to their counter we found out she was standing inside there with a kitchen cleaning brush on hand, she looked at us without saying anything, no giving menu, no explanation of whatsoever (coupon only said briefly that for breakfast). We took a menu by ourselves, trying to understand it. But it has many things and we didn’t know what are for coupon users.

After few minutes confusing by that menu, I decided to ask them directly, then she explained "only $4.40 drinks and $9.90 main dishes are for coupon" (so if I did not ask and ordered differently I could pay extra without primary explanation) but no mention of the buns (?), however, I questioned it because remembered of the coupon advertisement, and then she said "yes". We got our meals eventually with other staff’s service and it was finer with some smiles, but our feeling was ruined already, that is reason I put their service to 2 stars instead of only 1.

We will never come back there. The PappaRoti’s senior staffs liked to introduce their shop to a larger group of customers by selling the coupons with a hope these customers will be back, but their purpose could be damaged by wrong staff. Actually we wonder how long the shop can be there with that sort of service.

Okay, the place is way too small for a Saturday night dessert crowd, and the shortage of staff means you have to bus your own table or else it never gets cleaned. But what a great variety of ice creams! Kiwifruit, durian, peanut butter fudge, creme caramel, black sesame seed, pandan - the list goes on and on. And nom nom for the buns!

I like the buns. They're nice. I wish the shop could be bigger, current seating and the ambiance turn me off. Maybe they mean to be a fastfood 'dessert' rather than a decent place where you can sit back, relax and enjoy sweet treat.

These buns are so addictive! Got to love the buns! I went to PappaRoti twice and their buns are always freshly baked from the oven. It was still hot! Crusty layer over the top, nice and soft inside with a bit of buttery filling. Very yummy! Not very good for me especially if I am watching my calories intake! :)
