Wonderful restaurant! Need to book ahead as they get quite busy. First thing that caught my boyfriend's eye was the Juventus picture and plaque on the wall. He's a huge supporter so he loved "Pappardelle" before we even sat down. The risotto with prawns was delicious, flavorsome and a generous serving. I'm quite fussy with risottos but this one was so tasty I devoured the whole plate.

My boyfriend had the steak which was perfectly seasoned, thick, juicy and cooked medium rare just as he likes it. The value is really good for the quality and portions, ambience is modern italian and lighting has enough warmth without being too bright. We will definitely be back.

Having driven past many times, we decided to try this place for our 3rd year wedding anniversary. Being 8 months pregnant we thought we would have a nice simple Italian dinner as I'm quite cautious about eating out.

Watching all the food go out to other tables, our mouths were watering, so we had already developed a high expectation.

We started with a light fresh bruschetta which was lovely. Not sure why, but the chef had sent a plate of complimentary baby soft shell prawns for us with aioli. They were so delicate and yummy, hubby actually ate the prawn heads, and he never would have done that in any case. Not sure if they were on the menu, but would definitely order them in future.

Also for entree, we had rhe salt and pepper squid and the mussels in a napolitana sauce. The servings were a generous size, the squid melted in your mouth and that napolitana sauce was to die for. It had so much flavor and the mussels was so fresh. We could have cleaned the plate with a loaf of bread. But we had to save room for main and dessert.

For main my husband had Pappardelle Pescatore and I had the fish of the day which was poached salmon with kipfler potatoes, asparagus and Bearnaise sauce. The pasta was nice, it was a white wine sauce but because the pasta is home made, it seemed to have sucked up most of the sauce, so a little extra sauce would have been nice, never-the-less we would order it again. And what can I say about the salmon? I asked for it well done and let me say, it was Well Done.

That salmon was cooked to perfection and was complimented beautifully with the bearnaise sauce and the vegies were cooked to perfection, the potatoes were flavoursome. After letting my husband try it, he envied my choice, so, of course, I shared it with him. I just hope this dish stays on the menu and not just as a special.

And finally for dessert, we had the pannacotta and Brulee. The Brulee was nice, however, it probably needed a little more time to set, and the pannacotta was also nice, but could have been a little less dense in texture. Regardless, after everything we had eaten prior, we still cleaned up the plates.

I must also mention, we ordered 2 macchiatos. I've never had that brand of coffee before, but it was so good, I want to buy it for home. Really good coffee.

Coming from an Italian background where my father is a chef and pastry chef and also having been in the industry for years, I highly recommend this restaurant and intend on being a regular.

Can't wait to go back for that salmon! Compliments to the chef!

I've been goin to pappardelle for sometime, and I always enjoy the pizza. Unfortunately, on the 8/12/11 Thursday, I must say that the pizzas were absolutely horrible. There is normally a young tall fair guy (alex or something rather) who makes the pizzas but he seemed to have had the night off.! Which was ashame since me and my wife did not enjoy them at all. We will be going back but we definitely won't be ordering pizzas if the regular pizzaiolo isn't there.

You would think a large table would get good service. Meals weren't explained, water jugs weren't filled, I didn't see one glass refilled, plates were delivered to one end of the table and told to be passed along. Very noisy, couldn't hear the person across the table - don't know why they kept playing inaudible music as well. A cool night but very warm in the restaurant. Before we were ready to leave, which wasn't that late, we were told we couldn't have more coffee because they were cleaning the machine. To top it off they started stacking chairs and cleaning the place with bleach while we were still sitting there - lovely aroma! The food was good but that is not enough.

Went to this restaurant the other night as it was recommended to me and my husband. Since it was new it was lovely to sit in a new restaurant with new table and chairs. Waiters service was satisfactory, a little on the arrogant side but what would one expect from a local restaurant in Haberfield.

Food was good, our meat was slightly overcooked and for starters we had a pizza which was slightly burnt around the edges, reasonably cheap, if you are looking for a cheap feed and prepared to put up with a little arrogance then go for it. We have definitely eaten at better restaurants in the Haberfiled area.

On a Friday night a few months ago a small group of friends had organised to have dinner in Haberfield. I had been looking forward to checking out Pappardelle when I heard there was a new Italian restaurant on Ramsay St. It has a trendy interior and I had heard good things about the food. There was a mix up with the address of the restaurant that my friends had booked at and my partner and I turned up to Pappardelle (which was the wrong restaurant) while the other couple were at Filicudi (down the road).

When we walked into Pappardelle we asked the waiters if there was a booking under our friends name "Vanessa" and there was, but for 2 people not 4. We still did not realise we were at the wrong restaurant and assumed that there was simply a mistake with the numbers on the booking sheet. The waiters seemed confused yet helpful however as they were debating whether we were the "Vanessa" on the booking sheet, the owner came bounding down from the kitchen to where we were standing.

He was very rude and abrubt, snatched the booking sheet from the waiters and pointed out even more rudely that we weren't the "Vanessa" that had booked because that was his friend's table, then stomped off. Despite this the waiters were friendly enough to organise a table of 4 for us anyway, and in the meantime we tried to contact our friends because we realised that we must be in the wrong place.

It turned out that we were, however if we had been right the rudeness of the owner was so shocking and appalling that we probably would not have stayed anyway. Costumers = business and you would think that Mr Soglimbene would accept any business regardless of a booking or not, regardless of whether we were his friends or not too.

So after a bad first impression of this restaurant based purely on the attitude of the owner, we returned to Pappardelle a month later (after booking at the right place). The antipasto we ordered for starters was great, my partner had Penne Boscaiola (a bit peppery, but was enjoyed) and I had the Chicken Saltimbocca. The food was a bit pricey but tasty and the portions were large so we were happy to pay. Fortunately the owner was not there to ruin our mood that night and we left happily and full.

This is a fantastic little italian restaurant in Haberfield. It's family owned and run, which I think adds to the authenticity. The food is wonderful and not pricey at all for the servings.

I have to start by saying that the pizza I had the Spinaci e Ricotta was the best pizza I have ever eaten, this includes pizza I have eaten in rome or naples. I visited the restaurant on a sunday night around 8:30pm with a few friends for a in and out bite to eat. A lot of the patrons were finishing up their meals and there seemed to be a smile on every face in the room.

Once we finished the pizzas and salads and Char-grilled field mushrooms stuffed with spinach and ricotta, on gorgonzola sauce, it was easy to see why everyone was smiling. What a great place to eat and have a peroni or two with friends :) will be back for a more lengthy meal in the near future.

Went here on Saturday night to try the rabbit dish highlighted in the SMH review (the same review the restaurant has on their website). For some inexplicable reason the rabbit dish has been removed from the menu, only weeks after the review! Very disappointed couple of diners. My wife had the ragu as replacement, it looked like pasta with mince. Claggy and heavy. I had the whitebait fritters, gorgeous. The others had and enjoyed the calves liver.

The service was excellent, except our water glasses remained empty the whole meal. Overall, good food, well cooked. Nice relaxed room.

Food: Mouthwatering with plenty of variety, texture and colour. Atmosphere: Little noisy but full of life. Parking: unlimited - a refreshing change with No parking meters. Service: Waiters very familiar with menu and specials.
Value: Very tasty food at a reasonable price. Recommendation: Will definitely be returning again soon.
