My boyfriend and I wanted a quick meal before going to see Billy Elliot on Friday night. Took my boyfriend at least 10 minutes to be served for our drinks and to request the menu. We then quickly worked out what we wanted and I went up to order it. Took another 10-15 mins to be served, and when I was finally served I was told that they weren't taking any more orders for people going to Billy Elliot because they couldn't guarantee that it would be ready (it was about an hour before we needed to be at the show).
I went back to my seat and finished off my drink - on our table was 3-4 dirty plates, and about 5 or 6 glasses that hadn't been cleared from when the last people used the table. Also, went to use the female toilets, and they were disgusting as well.
Nice pub. The terrace outside is quite quiet, not directly on George Street, but the one inside is really loud. There was a special on the Tooheys New, a pint for 5$.
The cider was sweet and good. We took a fish and chips (16$) and squids (17$). Very simple cuisine but tasty and pleasant.
Great pub. Heaps of tables outside for smoking, and the guinness is great. After my pint, I made the mistake of getting a beam and coke... for $9.50!!!! The bartenders are friendly and are very good at watching over tables. As long as you don't get any pre mixed bottled drinks, this place is very good.
Good old Paddies. You can't beat its location, not to mention the people-watching opportunities, where you can ogle at the unique fashion choices of kids coming out of chinatown. Great place to meet up and decent pub grub abounds.
Not a bad place, a good place to start off with a few drinks and a slot on the pokies before heading out for a big night. Entertainment wise it's nothing special, they had a live band on one Friday night when me and a mate called in we left after 10 minutes but, so for me it was more an old fogies bar or a place to just have 2 drinks after work or 3 drinks before heading out!
It's a great place to go and hang out with your mates on a monday night. The rise from $6 to $8 for a jug of beer on mondays was way too steep for my liking but it is still relatively cheap. The free pool competition is also a highlight. The barstaff vary in politeness and range from great people to a guy or two who would put people off coming. Big night out, the usual monday night cover band are the best thing about the place and are a great, friendly group of guys.
Disgusting pasta - A creamy beef ravioli came out with the gravey used on the other dishes as the sauce! Tasted like camping food and definitely worse than what you could make at home. For $15, I rather eat somewhere else.
Came down here for a nice Sunday afternoon beer. No change out of $10 for a middy of beer and a pint of cider. Is in the city I know but am used to cheaper drinks 5 minutes away in Surry Hills! Service terrible -waitress looked like she was suffering a terrible cold and flu, never smiled and took about 10 minutes to serve three people two drinks each. Shocker! And she chose to make a phone call when customers were still waiting patiently at the bar. One woman even went to the toilet because she had to wait so long! Don't know what it is about bar staff attitudes in Sydney. Suburbs okay but city bar staff need to take a good look at themselves! It is called hospitality after all!
