Have eaten here a few times. Menu small but varied and quality is outstanding. Atmosphere makes the place special. You feel like you could stay and talk for hours.

Great food, great ambience, great music. Attentive staff, the two owners seem to be everywhere - a sign of a well run business. Worth a visit for the clever imaginative food alone.

This place advertises itself fraudulently as a wine bar - it is rather a first rate place to eat. The food was sensational and unlike anything else I have eaten in a long while perfectly cooked, imaginative, perfectly plated and amazing taste. This is all topped by staff who look like they enjoy working there - nice to be served by cheerful people. The two owners seem to be everywhere and this shows - I bet they can't keep it up!

5 of us dropped in for a drink on a Wednesday night. We didn't eat so cannot comment on the food, although I did notice it had a one-hat rating so it must be pretty good. But what a great place, the ambience was lovely. What really makes me happy is the service, the personal service. It was so nice to be received warmly, and to then have genuine interest shown in the wine on offer. You cannot buy that kind of service - you just have to be lucky enough to encounter it. I'd not heard of the owl house before last night, but I will be back for sure.

Nice place with a good wine list but the portions are a joke. The 'large' plates are entree size and you will need 2 of them!

I was so excited for Owl House, but I was disappointed almost immediately. The service was very poor. Our waiter was impatient with us for asking questions about the menu, and as a result was then slow with our mains.

The food was also over priced despite being delicious! For the prices you expect fine dining, not a wobbly table. There was a great vibe I will say, and it was quiet and the place is warm and cute. But for $28 for most mains, the portions needed to be larger, the fact that we were told 10 minutes after we ordered that the duck would take 25 minutes to cook, wasn't really ideal.

Had a great meal here on a Friday night. Our table of five arrived early and to our delight were seated on the balcony to enjoy a fantastic bottle of pinot while looking out over the street.

Once seated at our table, the service was attentive yet unobtrusive. All staff were well-versed in the menu, and happy to talk through the various items. We ordered a series of small dishes to share for entree, and one main each.

The food served was standout. Each dish was well thought out, and very satisfying. The croquettes ans sashimi were incredible.

The venue itself is quite small, but if you're after for a relaxed dinner out with friends this adds to the experience.

Owl House Cocktail Bar review, Thanks to the new bike tracks we were safely in Darlinghurst in minutes from Surry Hills but struggled to find a ‘park’ as there are bikes attached to every tree, all spots outside the gym taken but shortly we’ve got spot.

No bartender for a minute or so but well acknowledged and served when it came by a great bartender and a host double checking shortly after. I ordered my first ever Side Car from a good choice of classics. Tasted great, perfect balance in a very nice martini glass rimmed with caster sugar. 4/5

My friends drank some great wines from sauvignon blanc, pinot noir and cabernet sauvignon in the large (in appearance) tasteful glasses. In old school style the bartender not only did a great and speedy job but was also great entrainment as he served 2 mini cocktails to the blondes on the bar in his preferred 3 piece shaker.

Our sourdough bread did come after a due amount of fanfare and was delicious, supplied by Iggy’s Bread in Bronte.

Earnst would have loved it, my second cocktail with flambé over proof rum, mint, lime and a splash of Spanish cava. Spritzy and initially warm on the lips the fresh flavours complimented the dark rum in a smooth old school way. Again served in a warm manner whilst maintaining interaction throughout the elaborate preparation of the drink which involved spilling some of the flaming over proof rum on the bar, suitably design for this sort of thing with an almost inch thick layer of glass on top of the nicely aged wood. 4/5

The barman’s quick cruise on the floor to check on a a female punter whilst polishing glasses was timed perfectly and he was happy to entertain the new couple on the bar as they questioned my last flambé Earnst cocktail.

The buzz in the space certainly made sense as this new ‘hole in the wall’ very spanish style bar has certain got it right with just enough space on the bar for a few small groups or couples and a snug upstairs room perfectly serviced.

We’ll be back as will sommelier Mark Jackson who invited us out to his new favourite local. And Bill and Tonis on Stanley St. afterwards made for the perfect little Thursday evening soiree that didn’t break the budget.

Thanks Clover for the bikes and bars, now I feel like I’m living in a real cosmopolitan city comparable to those around the world. What a massive positive change for Sydney in just a short year or so.
