When I booked I was informed they had a wedding that night and we would be in the private dining room. I asked if we would have a view and assued "yes". As this night was a celebration we were very much looking forward to a beautiful evening. Our table had one seat facing the view and the other a wall. When we asked if we could have a table outside we were told "no".
About an hour into our meal we noticed that a table was set up outside for another couple. The small room we were in had no atmosphere what so ever. The food was lovely but the portions very small. Our waiter was helpful although we felt that if ordering wine by the glass it would have been nice to have had this poured from the bottle at our table (otherwise you really don't know what you are getting).
I don't think we will go back or recommend this place.
Services was very average! Think they forgot my booking, so they stuck us in the far back corner and told us it was the VIP section? Some how I don't think so. Waiters were all over the shop, think we were served by about 6 different waiters that had no idea what was going on. Food was very tasty but portions were so small!
The general vibe of the place was way to quiet for a saturday night and there was no buzz about the place, at $110 a person I think that we will be going back to others for that price!
A group of five attended this restaurant for a celebration lunch. Having been to two wonderful weddings here we wondered how lunch would be. We were not disappointed. The waiter was very helpful and we couldn't fault the service. The food was innovative and delicious and the waiter worked hard to make sure we were all satisfied with our menu choices.
Shared entrees and individual main meals ensured we had a good selection of flavours and cuisine. The only minor fault was the icecream for dessert, they tasted nothing like raspberry or pistachio and were very bland! A minor grizzle about an almost perfect meal on a perfect day. We'll definitely be back!
We have come to this restaurant a few times, it always made us come back. In the past the service was not up to mark and always made us wonder. Tonight was one of the best we have had for a long time. The food was 10/10 as always and the service was 2nd to none. The friendly guy who took care of the group was full of life and made the night the best ever. Arol, thanks for the anaconda great job.
This was the second time we have dined at Ottoman and the restaurant was as good second time as it was the first. The food was of a high quality and did not disappoint. Ambience was great as well. The only criticism was regarding the service.
The waiter was attentive but too gushy and highly irritating. His knowledge of wine left a lot to be desired as well given that my husband works in the wine industry we could tell that his knowledge was limited and incorrect. Other than that the ambience was good and value appropriate for the quality of the food. I would recommend this restaurant to friends with a caution on service.
We had lunch at Ottoman tonight, everyone was really happy with every thing, it was all worth it. The Pvt Room was set up really well and their service from Errol was just great. Everyone left with a big smile thanks.
We had a girl' night out wowwww this restaurant is one of the best in Sydney. Food was so yummy and the service what can I say! Erol, you are out-standing with everything you did for us on the night, we had a great time thanks to you. We will sure be back and will get our company to have our Christmas lunchon here.
I consider myself a real foodie and this food is absolutely sensational! We all have some set ideas about Turkish food but leave those at the door as you enter a place that can create a king prawn dish into a mouth orgasm. I have now rated this restaurant at the top of my list as the view is sensational (you are looking right at the water, Harbour Bridge and Luna Park).
The service is fantastic, the food is 10/10 every dish is a taste sensation. Plus they have really comfortable chairs with an elegant ambience. A tip is to order 2 seafood and 1 meat dish (just tell the waiter you want to try 3 dishes) this is a perfect amount (encompassing entre and mains). Go on. Treat yourself to a fantastic dining experience.
An overall pleasant experience that could have been better with better service and the food isn't what I expected to be honest. At the end of the day you are really paying a high price for a nice view and unique food with fancy names. Will try once again.
Went for a 'girls' dinner here - four of us. Found the place and the entrance a little hard to locate in the dark. Love the large double clothed and spacious tables. Love the padded chairs (hooray on behalf of all well built women). Love the lack of clatter - perfect for a good catch up with friends.
Our waiter was great - took a few indications from the group and proposed our menu which was suggested in an intelligent and humourous way to please the diverse needs of our group (including a self confessed hommous lover who gets shaky at the thought of unfamiliar food). We were then provided with a series of courses - each a combination of menu items individually plated in small "brackets" so we didn't have to muck around with serving ourselves and could get on with our conversation without interuption. Hommous lover had bowl of the stuff provided complimentary which she declared to be excellent. The food was divine and flavours great - not overly large which suited us but would probably not satisfy my husband's black hole of a stomach.
Wine list was very well priced with some absolute bargains on it, and included some aged wines - all glasses were kept discreetly topped up and the soak amongst us was not made to feel bad when requiring another bottle.
Overall I though it another good dining experience in Walsh Bay which is quickly becoming a favourite precinct for me to dine.
