Highly recommended! The entrees were a standout and very well executed, the zucchini puffs and eggplant parcels stood out in particular. The kofta and chicken sish was perfectly cooked, great location and a wonderful look into the higher end of Turkish cuisine.
What a disappointment this place is, be warned! Nice location and water views and decent food, unfortunately, get spoiled by the inappropriate and careless service. We were looking forward to a romantic dinner on a Friday night with the restaurant busy but not overwhelmingly filled with patrons.
Hence, it was the staff themselves who made the service absolutely chaotic: Once we had chosen our meals, one of the staff members suddenly came to our table and suggested for us to "order in a different way", meaning we should go for a different combination of entrees and mains than we wanted to order. This whole "advice" was not only unwelcome but actually quite intimidating to the point that my partner was close to wanting go home, what a great way to start the night!
We then said me need some more time and went through the menu again and when we had finally decided on changing our order to please that (quite creepy) waiter, another waiter came and yet told us something else. Leave us alone and just let us decide, what the heck are you doing? Well, the end result was that we were pushed into ordering two entrees and two mains which was not what we originally wanted to order and we couldn't help but feel the only reason for all this fuzz was for them to be making a bit more of a buck.
Which brings us to the main issue: The food quality is nice but not That great and the prices they charge are ridiculously over the top. Especially considering the tiny portions and we even had the Entertainment card with us but even with that discount it was incredibly bad value for money.
To top off the appalling service, the waiters took away our bottle of wine during dinner to keep all of those bottles in a central location. This is something I hate to begin with as I don't need a waiter intruding our dinner only to refill the wine glasses, usually leaving one of us with more wine than the other. But not only that, in the end they seriously managed to cheat us on about a quarter of the bottle as there was still wine left in there which we never got as no one could be bothered to come around and refill our glasses until we had the bill presented.
In short: Shocking service, okay food, tiny portions and horrid prices. Beware!
A bit middle-aged in terms of clientele, very good service and very good food with some being truly delicious. The place is classy with reasonable glimpses of the inner harbour, bridge etc. Not cheap, but certainly not over-priced. Some of the wines are a bargain by the bottle (2x mark-up).
We have been here twice, recently pre-theatre 11/6 and enjoyed it very much.
The entree of prawn/crayfish morsels clad in vine leaves was amazing. The fish was cooked to perfection and lamb cutlets just divine. Previously we enjoyed the zucchini flowers stuffed with goats cheese and pinenuts and they were excellent as well. The service is very friendly and helpful and the view of our beautiful harbour and Luna Park adds to the ambience. Definitely would return.
Went here for pre-theatre dinner and birthday celebration. Service was superb, they knew we were on a time schedule, checked this with us and then ensured we were well looked after and out on time. Our waiter was also very helpful with choices and quantities. Could not have asked for more, nothing like some of the negative responses reported by a few others on this site. Food was great and beautifully served. All in all, a top place and we will return.
As far as turkish cuisine goes, this place would have to be the premier in Sydney. A saturday evening dinner here for six of us where we shared a number of entree's including excellently prepared dips and mushroom, zucchini flowers and prawns while we each chose a main each. The highlight was definitely the veal dish. Superb ambience with a view to match and very very knowledgeable and helpful service.
Very nice experience last night. Great location and unique view of harbour and bridge, how indulgent to have a nice roomy dining area with plenty of space between tables, carpet on floor so don't have to yell, stylish plush decore. Food was fab, we had a tasting selection and all was very good especially the veal. Pomegranate icecream was divine and best baclava I have ever had. Attentive informed discrete service by Marc. I shall return.
We went for Sunday lunch. For a set price of $55pp we had an array of dishes and waddled away very well fed. It would be impossible to chose a favourite. The dips were superlative, the mushrooms exquisite, the salmon crip outside, succulent within. Service was excellent, the wine list is very good and fairly priced. On a sunny day this room must be fabulous, it was very good even in the rain. We loved the food we had at the sister restaurant in Canberra. This is even better.
I'm actually from Turkey and have to say that the meal we had at Ottoman on Saturday night is the best Turkish meal I've had outside of Turkey. Every single dish we ordered what mouth-wateringly delicious. The service wasn't amazing, but the food and views more than made up for it. If you're looking for great Turkish food, this is the place to go.
We had the degustation menu as a party of 6 adults. The food was divine. Unlike any other Turkish food I have had before. The restaurant was tastefully decorated and it was an excellent venue to have a celebration with good friends. Staff were responsive to our seating requests and dietary requirements. Gorgeous view. It was well worth it. I look forward to going there on another special occasion.
