most reviews are malicious & unjust, we do not have the time nor the inclination to respond to any comments.
we know most of the complainers & reasons for their complaints, if they were genuine they would contact us directly not be cowardly faceless weasels.
if you base your choices on eatability reviews then you are probably also a freindless, ignorant loser!

Just returned from this restaurant, a real gem in my opinion. It offers something a little different from generic pasta/pizza joints. Generous, rustic, regional food with friendly and unpretentious service. A kids' menu was suggested for our 6 year old before I'd even enquired and it wasn't full of fried/frozen offerings like many children's menus are. I thought the BYO charge of $6 per person was steep but that's my only complaint. We'll be back for sure.

We went as a table of eight, and we were all highly disappointed and will Never return. The only positive was the waitress who was very good at her job. The food, however, was over priced, one dimensional and really ordinary. Amongst our group was an Italian, who said it was categorically the worst Italian meal she had experienced. Definitely a never to return place.

So disappointed -7 of us went with friends who had raved and all 7 of us including the ones who had been before thought it was dreadful. Not one of us finished our main meals (they were awful) and when the waiter collected almost full plates he didn't even bother to ask if there was anything wrong (maybe he is used to it). A definite never to go back to place, I didn't even know it was possible to ruin Italian food!

We have been going to this great restaurant for a few years now. The meals are authentically Italian, full of taste, and just the right size, for they can be deceptively rich.
The wine list is fine, I always ask the staff to recommend a wine to match the food and again I have never been disappointed. Highly recommended and it is so good to have a great Italian restaurant in a street which is becoming increasingly less Italian as time passes.

Ignore the previous review. That diner has clearly never been to Italy. It’s traditional in Italy that mains come without accompaniments, and sides are always ordered additionally. I have eaten here many times and the food is always of a high standard, seasonal and extremely fresh. The simple style of the food and small menu is also typical of Italian trattoria style food. And in my view, the food is very reasonably priced: $20 for an entree and $30 for a main. That's pretty reasonable for Sydney.
There are plenty of other places on Norton St where you can get a cheaper meal, but you will end up with the usual penne arrabiata or fettuccine carbonara. Tell me where you would get fried zucchini flowers and soft-shell crab, or swordfish and scampi baked in parchment, which is what I ate last night. Each to his own, I guess!

We ate there last night being a Saturday night, it was my wife birthday and we were nine dinners. We had four our deal coupons and five others were full price customers.
Firstly the menu is very simple there is not alot to choose from. We sampled some of the entrees, the fried olives were a joke at $2.00 olive and the mains were not much better. The pasta dishes were not special and the portions were small. I had the lamb dish which was ok, but it did not come with any sides, they were all extra and I ended up hungry. We did not even bother with dessert, we just paid a fortune and left.
We all left hungry, so we went down the road to Gioa's and had to buy pizza.
Osvaldo Polletti was my worst dinning experience, I had never had to go eat somewhere else after, they are very bad value for money and the portions are small. Better of going somewhere else.

This is about the fourth time I have been to this restaurant and I'm amazed it doesn't have a higher average rating. This place is not your average pizza and pasta joint so if that's what you want, try elsewhere. The pasta dishes are always delicious but they are not particularly large. They are, however, the size you would expect in an authentic Italian restaurant. We had a delicious tomato salad and the figs and prosciutto were to die for. The lamb main course was a little fatty but the spatchcock was perfect. Dates stuffed with Gorgonzola should have been an exotic finishing touch but the dates were a bit dry and there wasn't enough Gorgonzola. The wine list was very good and the service was efficient although the waitress was a bit stroppy and could do with a chill pill. Overall the food here is generally pretty good and always offers some interesting options.

My daughter and I had a lovely lunch here today as part of crave. I booked before reading some of the negative comments, mainly as we wanted somewhere near her workplace of Annandale. The rabbit ravioli was superb, rich but not overwhelmingly so, lush and unctuous with perfectly cooked mushrooms. The pasta of the ravioli had that gentle mouth feel which only comes with hand made fresh pasta.
Cute carafes of wine, complimentary bread (just like in Italy) and friendly service. Its just a little ristorante on the main drag, but very reminiscent of many many places I've eaten at in Italy. We'll be back for an evening meal as soon as possible.

We read the negative reviews but thought - what the heck let's give it a try. Glad we did! Today we had the $35.00 lunch special as part of the SMH Crave Festival. The rabbit ravioli were delicious and plentiful. I don't know whether they have increased their portion sizes or whether others have gargantuan appetites. We love our food and thought today's meal was generous for lunch, considering the dish was quite rich. Served with complimentary bread and a rocket and parmesan salad which we ordered separately. Smiling, efficient service. Altogether a very pleasing experience. We would go back.
