The burger was so saturated with fat it leaked out. It was so overdone and hard it was nearly impossible to cut. My partners veggies were old and overcooked and the chicken similarly.

This is a good place to eat if you enjoy a pub atmosphere and not paying through the nose for decent food. Drinks are average, it's not the reason why you would come here. We had a pasta dish and bangers and mash. Both meals were lovely and filling. We would come here again for dinner and then head across to the Guillian cafe for dessert!

We 'went' with a small group on a weekend night. Bouncers stopped us from going in as, apparently, the lead lady was blind drunk. In actuality she was just happy, and did not even have a drop of alcohol in the hours leading up to it. The bouncers did not believe our protestations. We moved on. With such a bad experience, everything else becomes a 1 and I would recommend that no-one go to this.

I have just come back from lunch with a work crowd. We did the right thing and pre-ordered. It was $20 with a drink (soft drink only).

We paid at the bar where I asked to add some scotch into my drink and I'd pay extra. I got the "it's a Free drink" thing thrown at me. Well guess what, nothing's free. So they made me pay for a full one.

The meals came out. I had a roasted vegetable and couscous salad. There was seriously about $3 worth of food there and it was ordinary. Feel very ripped off. Some of the others had burgers, calamari or steak (everything was $20). I noticed the calamari eaters left quite a bit of their food. I would not go back and wouldn't have gone there in the first place considering their reputation. Poor effort for what was basically a $10 pub meal.

Went to this pub 2 on July 6. Ordered food and had $55 on our table to spend later in the evening. Food was bought out by a staff member and he promptly took our money. Initially I thought he was joking but I then had to chase him upstairs and grab him to get our money back. He refused to give it back and it wasn't until I mentioned using their own cctv that he gave back our money. I spoke to the manager about this. I didn't get the staff members name that took the money yet he indicated that he knew which staff member it would be. No apology was forthcoming. An unbelievable experience, we ate our average food, had a knike dropped in my lap by the guy clearing plates (no apology again) and spent our money elsewhere, never to return! Couldn't make it up if I tried!

I took some friends from OS here by accident and we had some great bar food - lamb burger was the best burger I have every eaten. Drinks are not cheap but it is the Rocks. Looks like they have some very good meal deals during the week which would make it great value. Have not tried the restaurant upstairs yet but will definitely give it a go.

On Friday night the 28th January, a group of us went to the Orient Hotel and I ordered kangaroo loin and let me tell you I had better, the kangaroo loin was full of sinew and that made it very chewy, it also came with polenta chips that didn't go well with it and spring vegetables which looked like to me a garden salad.

Had a really bad food experience here a few years back but my work friends dragged me back and Wow was I pleasantly surprised! The food was amazing and I have been back quite a few times now to try most of the menu which my friends give me a hard time about. Whatever they changed I'm glad they did! Service nice, price even better but the food, "please can I have some more".

Reading these reviews, it is hardly surprising that my review will read like many others. The Orient appears to be "trying to play in the big boys sandpit", without even having a spade.

Sure the Ivy Bar, Establishment, and other popular well known bars can have a door list, but come on Orient, having a door list for a poxy dive of a pub is just laughable. It's akin to having a doorlist for a lemonade stand!

So, last night myself and a group of 13 odd others (men and woman) were on a regular pubcrawl. None were drunk and it was 9 pm, and we just wanted to hit our second bar (being the Orient).

The brainless wonder on the door asked what the occasion was before stating "You won't be drinking much, nor cause us any trouble, so find somewhere else to drink". Now before you re-read that statement thinking it didn't make sense, it is word for word what was said.

This not only confused but bemused us all, who then went on to other bars in the area to drink. Upon arrival at the Orient, no one from our party was dressed badly, nor close to being drunk. With attitudes and security like this, it makes me wonder how this place can still trade!
