With so much hype on this website about it (though I notice a lot of reviewers have only reviewed 1-3 reviews, at the same time there are a few who have done over 10) I had to check it out. Don't believe the hype. The food is average, nothing that makes it better than other places. The place is cosy but small and my table wasn't even clean! The table next to me was quite unsteady. The service though is good and polite
Have I eaten too often at my greek friends place to give this a lower rating than others? I don't think so.
Love love loved this place!! After reading the reviews on Orexi and on my cousin's recommendation, I decided to book my work function here which was on the weekend. Everyone absolutley loved it!
My work colleagues were raving all day at work today about our night out. I would have to agree with the majority reviews that I read that this place absolutely rocks!!!! We all had such a great night ! Trish, the person I initially made our booking with was absolutely fantastic. She and Peter were genuine and very hospitible. They made us feel so welcome and like family.
The place is very cosy, intimate and classy for such a small place. We went with the $39 per person banquet which was so big. There was so much food! It was like five or six courses which also included dessert and coffee! crazy value for money!
The food was so tasty. The grilled halloumi cheese was absolutley delicious as was the succulant souvlaki skewers and I must say that the octopus was cooked to perfection. Unbelievably tasty alround - everybody love it.
They don't have a wide variety of wine, but Trish recommended this Greek white wine that we kept topping up on (and we're not bigh drinkers) but it was so good I would probably go back to have that with even a mezze plate it was that good. (and I'm a red wine drinker). I will definitely be going back again (with my family this time) I know they will love it.
Went here the other day and wasn't terribly impressed, yes you get a lot of food, but the food wasn't that great. This is more of an upmarket cafe than a restaurant. The ambience isn't fantastic which isn't really their fault, they're opposite a parking station. Ordered the haloumi first and this was fairly nice with lots of herbs. Then we ordered the $38 plate for two, the calamari was very tender the chicken skewers were very tender with lemony/herb flavour.
The sausages were cut in half for ease of cooking and tasted exactly like you would get from a sausage sizzle, don't know what was greek about them, the lamb skewers and chops were ok but nothing to write home about, and the octopus was burnt and like old boot leather.
Got to then end of the meal and realised that they hadn't brought out the dips and pita bread, they gave it to us to go and said that they would give us pita bread to go with the dips as an extra, which I found odd as it says on the menu that pita bread is included, I must say that the servings of the dips were tiny. I think there are far better places you could go to with better food.
After the comments on here I booked to go on a Saturday night with my Hubby and we were really looking forward to it. And we weren't let down. There was a large family group that was very happy and loud, but that to me only heightened the atmosphere.
Peter served us and he was just fabulous. Attentive, friendly and professional. I think he may be an owner. We got the platter for two with haloumi and bread and dips starters. The dips are amazing, just perfect, and the meat platter with calamari (tender, soft) and octopus (tender and flavoured with herbs) was enjoyable and very reasonably priced.
Will we come back? Definitely, I want to try some other dishes, why wouldn't we... great service, lovely food and it doesn't break the bank!
I had a bit of a different expectation of what I thought this restaurant might have been. I didn't expect it to be such an informal cafe style restaurant but it was still a nice pleasant restaurant to come too. The Haloumi was great in the banquet and there was a lot of food, I was just looking for something a little bit more formal than what it was.
The service is 10/10, the gentlemen that ran the place is on the ball and attends to every need of his customers. I would return for a quick informal dinner.
Never had Greek food before, and generally don't wonder to new food that often as for being scared about wasting money. But in this case, I honestly could not believe it. So much so I am writing a review for it which is something I would not normally do!!
The dips are divine, and I'm a guy who would not normally eat food like that and the meat, tasty, fresh and heaps of it. I recommend the banquet.. $33 a head, minmum 2 people, dips, meat, salads, dessert and coffee for that price. And I can guarantee you won't finish all the food.
My bad thing was that it was a little noisy cause it was full of loud Greek people. And it's a small room which makes it echo! Overall loved it!
Visited here on a weekday lunchtime and were pleasantly surprised. The selection of dips was great; we particularly enjoyed our warm bread slathered with the thick and creamy tzatziki and the buttery, salty taramasalata. Our meat platter for two arrived and it was huge- two skewers of chicken souvlaki, two juicy, spiced Greek sausages, two wine-marinated lamb chump chops, and a pile of crunchy hot chips with lemon and more garlicky tzatziki.
Everything was delicious, the sausages being particularly tasty, and we had to take most of the chips and dip home with us. Great value also, at less than $20 a head, excl drinks.
We are currently here for a friend's birthday and our meal has been very enjoyable!
The food has been really fresh and tasty. Nothing has tasted fake or as if it was made days before. I had never had souvlaki before, but after coming here, I think I can say it's really good! There is also a large variety which is also really good!
Ambience: due to the restaurant being quite small, it's not very quiet. But overall it is quite a pleasant little place!
Value: we got the banquet which is $40 per person. It may sound like a lot, but for the amount you get, it's really quite good. There's a lot of food! We even had food left over!
Service: Friendly and accommodating! The staff is very willing to help and give customers a pleasing meal, which is nice since there are so many rude wait staff out there.
All in all a really nice meal. I'd definitely come back!
Love love love this place. I went with my boyfriend, but I shall be going back with the whole family. This place is great! Food was great, the customer service was excellent. The food has this certain home made feel to it. It's not restaurant food thats for sure. My boyfriend prides himself on being a big eater and he was struggling towards the end. We got the platter for two and it was soo yuummmm.
Food prices were good, decently priced. Ohh the only bad thing I didn't like about this place was that during the course of our meal, they changed the music from greek music to old school rnb!! I think they had some TuPac playing for a little bit too :So definitely didn't go with the atmosphere.
We came to this tiny restaurant on Saturday night after reading all the rave reviews. I asked on booking if it was BYO, and was told no, they were fully licenced, but on double checking we discovered we could bring wine for $3.50 corkage, which was a great bonus. We had the $35 a head platter, and were stunned at the quantity of food which kept appearing, all of which was delicious and beautifully cooked.
The service was excellent, with the owner coming regularly to check that everyone was happy, we certainly were! The home made desserts were lovely too, and the whole meal reminded us of visits to Greek tavernas in our younger days. There was so much food that we ended up with two boxes of leftovers which made a tasty lunch for four the next day, so we fail entirely to understand how anyone could say it was pricey. We considered it brilliant value for money, and will certainly go back.
